"Porter speaks loudly and levies the big stick. The first time Tom Brady saw him across the line, the young quarterback nearly started shaking."

no wonder the youngster feigned injury so bledsoe could come in and mop up. a hobbled porter had ray lewis in his prime running back to his bus.

jack lambert- priceless
greg lloyd- priceless
joey porter- about $5 mil/ year

upholding tradition - priceless

Jack Lambert was feared more.

I suppose I would agree with that, although Porter's not quite at the level that Ray Lewis was in his prime as far as being feared IMO.

Well yeah... Ray Lewis was packing heat. Joey is a lethal weapon all by himself. :sofunny:

joey is the best D player in the league if he played more coverage and zone then he would be a 150 tkl a year guy. i like him how he is though.

I'm a huge Steelers fan, but I wouldn't call Joey Porter the most feared man in the NFL. He hits QBs, but he doesn't hit them late like Greg Lloyd used to do. And he doesn't play as well against the run or with such an angry attitude as Jack Lambert did. Porter is physically bigger than both of those players, but he just doesn't seem as nasty, despite the things he says.

P.S. Another Steeler who was widely feared but somewhat overlooked was Levon Kirkland. Weighed in at around 270 lb and wore a visor that made him look every bit as menacing as he was. :boxing:

I wonder if maybe the rules have changed and you are no longer allowed to hit the qb late as in "late hit" I have no idea but I know the game has changed as Teryy Bradshaw says, "They put a dress on the qb"

No idea lol

Hmm that I doubt.

Harrisson is better than Bruschi, Colvin or Vrabel?

C'mon lets try and stay realistic here.

Just becasue a Patriots fan posts an opinion doesn't mean you have to turn the subject of the thread into the Patriots.

I really dont think anyone wants to see that.

I love J.P. and i have met him he's a cool dude and on the field a great player but no is saying anything about Shawne Merriman 6'4" 272lbs a rough hitter , that's who gets my vote and them LaVar Arrington , I recall him hitting Kordell on the sideline and knocking him silly. I rank J.P. 3rd but he is my fav.

Merriman is definitley a fricking beast. I saw that dude up close at a mall in San Diego and he is a monster. I'm sure with a few more years under his belt he will get the recognition of being one of the most feared players in the league. It's only a matter of time.
