of course. But that is tonight. I plan on watching a lot of James Harrison with the bungles this year.and Andrew Luck going against his former college coach seems like a pretty compelling story.

I want to see how him and Peyton Manning do without their heavenly mentor Bruce Arians. seems neither of them can stop thinking of him or talking about him.

I also want to watch and see how mundane Hall runs the ball today behind a true full back. :sofunny:

Well, I always watch the Ravens to see if they'll lose. The Texans/Ravens and Lions/Redskins are the early games in my area (no Sunday Ticket). The 4:30 game here is Colts/49ers.

I'll watch as much as I can stand.

Need to cheer for Texans over Ravens and Packers over Bengals in the early games today

I will see if Mike Wallace makes a difference when the Falcons play the Dolphins in the 4 pm game

49ers-Colts could be close but i see a walkover for the 49ers. Seahawks over Jags will be brutal.

And there was this nugget in the Colts-49ers preview.

When Pep Hamilton was hired in January to run Indyís offense, it was clear that more traditional, balanced game plans were on the horizon. Hamilton vowed to use a fullback in his West Coast system and promote the running game.

http://mmqb.si.com/2013/09/20/sunday-slate-analyzing-week-3-matchups/?sct=hp_bf1_a4&eref=sihp

Can someone please remind me who was calling the plays in Indy last year?:noidea:

Whomever it was apparently did not like to use a fullback or promote the running game

I'm in Toronto so it's Buffalo because it's just over an hour to hit the border into Bills territory. Out west it's Seattle though.

There are a lot of Pats and Steelers fans in Toronto. I rarely see any Bills jerseys.

One day very soon I will either move to Vegas or finally pony up for DirecTV. Until then I will be a slave to geography.

And actually, watching Dallas games isn't all bad. Most of their games are close and you're usually due for one bone-headed 'did that just happen?' play. Better than watching a dead-in-the-water team like CLE, JAX, NYJ, OAK...

as much blame as all the Steelers are given for losing the Super Bowl vs Green Bay Clay Matthews never gets credit for being a great player and single handedly winning that game.

Ravens game turned on Texans being up 3 with 2 minutes in the half - Schaub throws a pick 6 to an ILB on an inside pass to the TE, Texans 3 and out, then punt return TD

Ravens score TDs anyway they need to

Not impressed by the Texans, who very easily could be 0-3

All this, but really want to emphasize about the Texans.

Schaub is getting old and never was more than 'good'.

Foster may have hit his expiration date.

Andre Johnson is no spring chicken and also looks gimpy.

Houston may be the best team in the AFC South, but that's not saying much. Their O is looking old and it never was that spectacular to begin with.

The 08 team of veterans thrived off this type of pressure. this young group has shown nothing other than that they will pucker.

Man - they can even score TD's by the boatload and move the ball.

Might be like when Brown had the great 2011 - Wallace draws the double coverage:noidea:

Dolphins 3-0 for first time since 2002 - they are happy. Let's see if Wallace is.

Could not have gone worse so far for Steelers today. Ravens, Bengals, Colts, and Dolphins all win - thought at least 3 of those teams would lose today.

I don't think so, they just want to win games. And Wallace's being covered over and under takes away two defensive backs, so the other receivers are man on man. The object is to win the game and Wallace's presence contributed to it.

Tanneyhill made a few bonehead plays but the Fins don't look too shabby. The Saints should beat them next week, so the streak ends at 3.

Probably not. Being 3-0 (and actually having two quality wins in there, which is impressive) means that they're probably pretty happy with their composition.

True that - the "trade Ben" crew needs to remember what it is like to have a journeyman QB who is just good enough to lose - Matt Schaub is playing like Neil O'Donnell against Dallas in the Super Bowl

When your window to compete for titles is open you need to close the deal to get to Super Bowls

You can't put that loss on Romo. When the defence can't make the other team punt even once in the whole game, the QB is not the problem. Sure, it was a tight throw, but if the TE runs a sharp route there and cuts over hard like he should, he's in front of the linebacker.

The Cowboys fans are all over Romo for this one, but a good rule of thumb is that Cowboys fans are always wrong about everything.

Yes, KC is a fundamentally solid team. Not sure they have the horses to beat the Broncos (or maybe Indy if they continue to defy conventions) though.

However, Oakland impressed, too. For such a lack of talent they hang in most games.

Pretty impressive.

Crosby missed a FG. The ensuing drive Flacco fumbled and the Pack ran it back in range for a chip shot FG.

With regard to Harbaugh, he may actually be starting to believe that he has special insights into the game that mere mortals lack - he always has been an arrogant jackass and now that he has won a Lombardi that attitude presumably is not diminishing

With regard to Lacy, I was most impressed that he had the sense to stay in bounds and allow the clock to keep running at the end of the game unlike Keenan Lewis, who did not think to try and keep the Patriots received in bounds as time was running out

Football can be random

Brady throws a horrible pick to Keenan Lewis and it looks like Brady is the goat while Lewis is the hero.

Brady then gets the ball back after the Saints think they will fool everyone by sending Brees on a bootleg on third down that loses 5 yards - Brady then drives the Pats 70 yards in one minute with no timeouts while Lewis chips in by driving the receiver out of bounds and stopping the clock on the last drive

In this game, Luck faired poorly. But, it was one game.

It appeared that he was limited, by an OC who ran the ball constantly, and then asked him to bail them out on third-&-long (sound familiar? LOL). Then, on third down, Corey Liuget was a monster (THAT is how a R1 DE is supposed to play). Luck was able to scramble away... but got 8 yards when he needed 10.

When Luck did pass deep, his WRs dropped passes (I saw one long TD dropped, and another long pass where the Chargers DB got away with grabbing the WR's right arm).

In general, I think that Luck is going to be amazing. He has Big Ben's body, Cam Newton's athleticism, Peyton's brain, Montana's moxie, Marino's quick release, and Favre's arm.

So much for the Colts as a plausible challenge to Denver to win the AFC - but I guess we will find out for sure after Broncos-Colts this Sunday night

Chiefs are probably the second best team in the AFC right now but three road wins in the playoffs does not appear likely

Teams that play the physical Seahawks are now 0-5 the next week against the spread

Week #2 ó Panthers lose at Bills as three point favorite. Week #3 ó 49ers lose at home to Colts as 10 point favorite. Week 4 ó Jaguars lose at home by 34 points to Colts. Week 5 ó Texans lose at 49ers by 31 points as a six-point underdog. Week 6 - Colts lose at San Diego by 13 as a 1&1/2 point favorite

This DAL @ DET game is less a defensive struggle and more offensive ineptitude.

The Lions have two undisciplined turnovers (Stafford telegraphing a slant route and Bush carrying the football like nitroglycerin) and two freak ones.

However, both offenses keep playing to the down yardage. Every second and 10 or third and 10 near FG range they're trying for 15-20 yards instead of chipping away and getting 4-6 yds to set up a shorter third down or FG.

Both Romo and Stafford have happy feet and are throwing ahead/behind their receivers, too (although that is more a result of each team's respective solid front four).

Neither team can run the ball and it shows.

Flawed teams playing flawed offense.

The Tuel pick-six changed the game so fast it wasn't funny (when it happened, I shouted, 'Finally!' It was only a matter of time until Tuel blew it).

The Bills immediately abandoned any type of game plan which involved putting the ball in Tuel's hands (to include the effective quick drops) and just predominately ran until they fell behind after that bizarre fumble TD.

Chiefs game was pretty funny. They were down by 17 in the 4th and 1/2 of the stereotypical loudest/rowdiest/drunkest fans streamed out. And when they were down by 10 with 4-5 minutes or so left, the rest of the took off. The only people left were the quiet fans sitting in the back.

Tiny taste of adversity and the Chefs nation starts to fold again. Great way to screen out the pretenders.

IDK. I wanted to see the Panthers win as much as anybody but I think that was PI. I can see some of the arguments as to why it might not be PI but in the end Kuechly pretty egregiously took Gronk out of the play and gave him no chance to make a play on the ball. If the ref had never thrown a flag at all that's one thing but the fact that he threw it and then just took it back made it look pretty bad. I think the Pats should have gotten their play at the goal line.

Pereira is right on the rules (no surprise).

Rule 8, Section 5, Article 3 Permissible Acts

Article 3 Permissible Acts by both teams while the ball is in the air. Acts that are permissible by a player include, but are not limited to:

.......

(c) Contact that would normally be considered pass interference, but the pass is clearly uncatchable by the involved players, except as specified in 8-3-2 and 8-5-4 pertaining to blocking downfield by the offense

Where did Pereira say that? According to his own tweets, he thought the penalty should have stood.

It was ESPN's officiating consultant Gerry Austin that defended the no call - Peter King is hammering him for having the audacity to defend a call that went against the Pats

Gerry Austin blew it. Austin, the ESPN officiating consultant, kept defending the call on the ESPN post-game telecast. In essence, he said if the ball is uncatchable, you canít have interference. Jon Gruden argued with him and said: ďThe pass interference starts four yards deep in the end zone, and thatís where the ball ends up being thrown Ö It should be a penalty on Kuechly.Ē In Austinís logic, a defensive player can drape his arms over a potential receiver and push him away from the ball, and if the ball is underthrown, itís not interference. That, quite frankly, is insulting to any football fanís intelligence.

http://mmqb.si.com/2013/11/19/carolina-panthers-new-england-patriots-bad-call/?eref=sihp

The obvious answer for King is to repeal the "uncatchable ball" exception to pass interference

I hope the Competition Committee clarifies language and mandates a call of interference anytime a receiver in the same area code as a thrown pass is illegally blanketed by a defensive player.

Of course it is not "illegal" if the ball is uncatchable:noidea:

Let's see if King still has that view the next time the Pats are not called for PI

As others have posted, if the Pats got screwed so what - the foundation of their success (other than cheating) was the tuck rule call

During the broadcast, he said he agreed with the call. His tweet makes no sense since the whole point of picking up the flag was the ref with the best lateral view of the play saw there was no way Gronk could get back to the ball and through the intercepting defender. The ref who threw the flag was directly in line wiht the pass and Gronk and had no way of determining "uncatchable". It was a good flag and a good reversal.

Pereira is in effect saying that refs should never correct calls on the field, which is of course BS.

It didn't matter if Kuechy took Gronk out of the play if the refs thought that the ball was uncatchable without the pass interference.

But that's the thing, I don't think it was uncatchable. It was uncatchable because Kuechly was shoving Gronk away from it the entire time the pass was in the air. If Kuechly covered him normally instead of bear-hugging him, I'm not sure Gronk makes that catch, but he definitely gets close enough for it to be "catchable."

When people talk about uncatchable, I don't think they're factoring in the interception. You can argue that Gronk might have made a shoestring catch, but there was no way he was getting back to the where the interceptor was.

And, heard Pereira on NFL Radio at lunch. He's gone from "i agree with the call" when asked during the broadcast, to a wishy washy tweet, to now full on saying he doesn't agree w/ the call. Go figure...

1&2. I could see the Taperiots dropping to the 3rd seed. They have to play the Broncos.. and Indy gets the Jags & Texans (two "automatic" wins).

3. I'd be happy w/ 5-1... if that one loss s against the NFC (i.e. the Packers). Division wins are musts, AFC wins are crucial, and an NFC win would be "nice" (but doesn't really affect the tie-breakers).
