Broncos come out uninspired and the Jags cover the spread.

This from the NY Times. Until today the biggest spread since the 1970 merger was Steelers - Tampa Bay in 1976. As of this morning Denver is -27 and beats that by 1 point.

The Jacksonville Jaguars opened as a 28-point underdog to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Gold Sheet, a sports-betting outlet, has been track- ing lines since it began publishing in 1957. The biggest pro football point spreads:

1966
Baltimore (28) 19
Atlanta 7

1966
Green Bay (27) 56
Atlanta 3

1967
Oakland (26 ) 42
Miami 17

1976
Pittsburgh (26) 42
Tampa Bay 0:thumbsup:

1968
Oakland (26) 13
Buffalo 10
1966

Cleveland (26) 49
Giants 40

1966
San Diego (26) 44
Miami 10

The biggest pro football point-spread upsets:

1974
San Diego (+20) 20
Cincinnati 17

1968
Buffalo (+20) 37
Jets 35

1967
Minnesota (+20) 10
Green Bay 7

1968
Denver (+22) 21
Jets 13

I'm loving that it's 14-12 Broncos at half.

aside from his constant problem fumbling his words, Shannon Sharpe is real good on the radio and TV, however listening to him in the broadcast booth makes me really appreciate how good bill owner completely dominated his first attempt at the gig.

He could be the best coach to ever do it if he wanted. Shannon brings nothing but anecdotes and one liners. Basically a circus sideshow.

Well I guess the fact that the Broncos turned the ball over 3 times and the Jags kept it within two scores is enough for me.

He slipped in his later years but IMO nobody was ever better than Coach Madden - if you ever have a chance to see tapes of 70s games with what passed for analysis before Madden arrived he redefined the job

But Cowher was great today - I just think he is glad to cash the check while staying in the studio and not traveling

Madden is the benchmark and he turned his brand into an entire enterprise. Dick vermeil was good but didn't quite have that national appeal. I really enjoy gruden but owner seemed more natural and not overly enthusiastic.

I agree that bill is probably in his dream job right now. He works for a great franchise with great people. I'm sure there folks at FOX And any other network who would be jealous of his paycheck.

He is in that rare position where he can do whatever he wants whether it be on the sidelines ,booth, studio, or rock videos. When it comes to getting a job he interviews team owners or networks, not vice versa.

As far as his studio work, he is already tight there with jimmy Johnson, bill parcels, or ditka.

Personality wise he is just about as likable as mariucci.
