Steelers Sign Eight Players to Practice Squad

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers signed eight players to their practice squad today, giving them a total of nine practice squad players, including one who is part of the NFL's International Player Development Program.

Each of the practice squad players participated in the team's training camp, including TE Jon Dekker, DE Orien Harris, RB Cedric Humes, QB Omar Jacobs, FB John Kuhn, CB Anthony Madison, DE Shaun Nua and OT Brandon Torrey. Wide Receiver Marvin Allen, who is part of the NFL's International Player Development Program, will remain on the Steelers practice squad through the entire 2006 season.

NFL clubs could not sign players to their practice squad until noon Sunday (Sept. 3).

Wow, Kuhn and Jacobs are still there...........surprise, surprise. Now for those who were ready to bomb the Heinz Field offices, please step away from the trigger and realize that our FO knows what they are doing.

Well if you believe in your opinion then you need to stand up for it. But by doing that you also have to accept the fact that you may be wrong. With that said, I am very pleased that Kuhn made it through waivers. Who know's maybe he'll put pressure on Staley to perform.

Orien Harris anybody?

I hope so. May take him a year to adjust to the 3-4 but he seems to have alot of upside.

You can throw Nua in there too as a guy who has some nice upside.

i was dissappointed in Nua...thought he would show major progress this year

Orien Harris looked terrible this preseason. Maybe one day he'll be a diamond, but right now he's a piece of coal.

Jon Dekker really sucked it up the first game, but played better as the games went on. He'll be around for awhile and might end up on the 53 man roster next year, unless we draft someone.

Omar tore it up in the last preseason game. Lightning fast release on that kid and extremely accurate. That pass to the back of the end zone to Willie Reid was one of the most amazing passes I've seen in awhile. I don't know how he squeezed it back there. Willie didn't bring it in though.

You dont think Kuhn fits perfect as a short yard back for the Burgh????

I would have kept Charles Davis over Dekker.

Yup, keeping Omar was my personal favorite. Now you have a third QB in case the really horrific thing happens.....but hopefully he will join Rick Strohm and Mike Quinn in our hearts and minds soon enough

Look, I'll only have a half of my crow at this time (rotisserie style). Remember that any player on the practice squad can be signed by a different team.

Please keep the other half of my crow warm so I can eat it later!
