Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, who has been bothered by a hamstring injury during the preseason, is questionable for the team's regular-season opener Thursday against Miami, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Steelers head coach Bill Cowher still expects Ward to practice today, and Ward's status could be changed during the week depending on his progress.

Ward, an eight-year veteran, has missed just one regular-season game in his career. He caught 69 passes for 975 yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the Steelers to a Super Bowl win last season. He caught 5 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl to earn MVP honors.

His best season was 2002 when he had 112 receptions for 1329 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Two other players are listed as questionable: tight end Jerame Tuman (hamstring) and center Chukky Okobi (knee). Four are listed as probable: rookie offensive tackle Willie Colon (hamstring), cornerback Chidi Iwuoma (concussion), safety Mike Logan (ankle) and right tackle Max Starks (knee).

This keeps getting better and better!

IMO, he'll be ready. I'm more concerned over Ben missing practice even though there hasn't even been a reason given for his absence.

Questionable isn't too bad. If he was doubtfull I'd be a little concerned, but I don't think this is anything to worry about. I honestly figured he would be listed as Questionable after following his progress over the past few weeks.

I think he will play... I cant see Ward sitting out of a game if he is able to go .. I think he will at least try it out.

Gee Knife - burst our bubble, why don't ya...(lol)...

I'm going by what Hines himself said at the Kickoff Luncheon last week and that is - he will be in the lineup on Thursday against the Dolphins.

During Cowher's press conference regarding Ben, he said that Hines is "ready to go".

At least he's ready to go and Batch is ready to roll.

The only way that Hines won't play is if you see him listed as "out", so he'll be in the lineup on Thursday....

I don't think Hines Ward has much of a choice in this one. He has to play in this game for the Steelers to have a chance. Hopefully he doesn't rush back and get reinjured in the process, though. If Ward doesn't play, there's no way the Steelers win...unless they can get a couple of defensive scores.
