well guys and gals just saw the Steelers Chunky Soup commercial on the weather channel of all places?!?!??!?! Why the weather channel hell I don't know. Looks like there's going to be two soup commercials with the steelers. I guess the mom is Max Starks mom. Batch wasn't in the one I saw tonight so I'm guessing he's in the other one. Looks like from this article that the "steel curtain" of the 70's also filmed a commercial with Haselbeck that should be a good one!

Okobi, Farrior, Hartings, Simmons, Marvel, Starks, Hampton. I think I got 'em all right.

PITTSBURGH - Dwight White, a defensive end of the most feared front four in NFL history, has long been a fan of Campbell's Chunky Soup.

But now that he and his Steel Curtain brethren have filmed a television commercial for the soup, White says that he's been gulping it down more than ever.

"I've been eating Chunky Soup for years," said White, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1971-80. "Man, it's good soup. I like all of them. Ever since I retired from football, I've been a big soup guy. It's good for you."

As part of its new "Hungry Boys" campaign, Campbell's Soup filmed five commercials over the summer. The third of those five TV ads, which will air in mid-October, features White and five other Steeler defenders from the 1970s - defensive end L.C. Greenwood, defensive tackles Joe Greene and Ernie Holmes, linebacker Jack Ham and cornerback Mel Blount.

In that commercial filmed at Heinz Field, those six Pittsburgh legends confront Matt Hasselbeck, the current quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, who lost to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL.

The first two of the new "Hungry Boys" commercials will run next Thursday in conjunction with the start of the 2006 NFL season (the Steelers host the Miami Dolphins that night). Featured in the first two commercials are eight current Steelers - quarterback Charlie Batch, offensive linemen Max Starks, Marvel Smith, Kendall Simmons, Jeff Hartings and Chukky Okobi, linebacker James Farrior and nose tackle Casey Hampton. Starks' mother, Eleanore, also as a role in the commercials.

The other ads that will begin airing in October feature Hasselbeck and his mother and Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb and his mom.

"Making the commercial was a lot of fun ... especially because I got to do it with Joe, 'Fats' (Holmes) and L.C.," White said. "I know that there were a few other great front fours over the years like the Fearsome Foursome (of the Los Angeles Rams) and the Purple People Eaters (of the Minnesota Vikings). But the Steel Curtain is universally accepted as the greatest defensive line of the all.

"Those numbers - 68, 75, 63 and 78 - speak for themselves. Anybody who knows anything about football knows that those numbers symbolize."

Does anyone remember the old, old Steelers commercials when I think Uniroyal named a tire the Steelers because it was so tough???

Yep just saw the McDonald's commercial it was pretty funny. Batch was going to kick a paper ball for a field goal Starks was the goal post then they cut to Jeff Reed standing on the table getting ready to make the kick.

The McDonalds ad is apparently just a regional one. So for those of us who, like me, are unlucky enough to not live in the `Burgh, here it is:

I love that commercial, 83!

I really enjoy the Chunky Soup commercials and am looking forward to seeing all of the new ones. Don't like Chunky Soup itself, though - it's a heart attack in a bowl. :yuck:

And it's not like a McDonald's value meal can be considered health food but somehow I can see our Steeler boys hawking tofu....even if they do really eat it!!! :sofunny:
