Is anybody starting to lose faith in this guy? He sure has been missing some FGs these days. Maybe it is a little early to worry yet.

Not losing faith, but I am raising an eyebrow, that's for sure Stlrs4Life.

Too early to panic. The crappy field didn't help his footing either last night.

I was annoyed that they didn't show a replay of the missed FG. I wondered what the hell happened there. Did he just shank it or did he slip as he made the kick?

Whatever it was it looked pretty ugly.

I agree. 90% of the time, Reed comes through in the clutch. No worries here.....yet.

I'm not worried about Reed either - he's already made several game-winning kicks in his career. Like I said in another thread, even the great ones have an off game or two. He'll be fine.

I have no worries with Skippy, other than the miss last night, when has he shown inconsistncies? I mean, the super bowl win might have my blinders on but did he miss anything in the playoffs?

He missed one FG last night. No one has seen the replay on it yet. Some implies multiple misses. From what I remember he was pretty clutch last year.

His plant foot slipped, from what I saw.

Jeff has been in a slump. He batter shake it off soon. We don't need him to do a Vanderjett for us. At least he is better than Chris Brown.

I've loved Reed as our kicker. He's made some really money kicks from 40+ when the pressure's been on in the last 2 years, and in a home stadium that's very unfriendly to kickers. Conditions were terrible on Thursday, utterly saturated. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Start over next week, Jeff.

For me, I can't put my faith in Jeff. He isn't very solid. He may come through in the clutch sometimes. But, I can remember a lot of times when we lost because of him missing field goals.

I would like to see a few more kickoffs reach the endzone, hell he is Quadzilla isnt he?

I think he'll be fine this season. The grass was real wet from the high humidity the other night. But if kickers keep missing we can just blame it on the new commish's signature on the ball. Like Madden said, it's heavier than Tagliabue's signature. LOL

He missed one late in the preseason as well.

I'm not very concerned about it yet.

But I sure would like to see him consistently kick the ball deeper for regular kickoffs. That's never been his strong point.

Here we go.

Here is Reed's field goal stats since he has been our kicker.

2002-17/19
2003-23/32
2004-28/33
2005-24/29
2006-0/1

He has made 81 percent of his kicks and usually makes all of his kicks at Heinz Field. So I'm very confident in Jeff. The only alarming thing to me about Jeff is last year his long was only 44 yards.

Awww c'mon shevdog - he missed ONE FG. It's not the end of the world! Jeff Reed comes through for us 9-1/2 times out of 10 - no worries here.

Get a grip son... Jeff Reed is fine... he has Never been real accurate over 45 yards but the rest of the time he is real dependable.. Just Relax...

Im not too worried either. All of our guys were slipping and sliding. Just look at Ike Taylor, that guy was slipping all over the place. I am thinking that he slipped just a little, causing a shank like that. Even on his worst day, Jeff could not shank one THAT severely without some other outside cause.

we need a kicker for kickoffs, his high school kicks always put the offense in good posisition, he might as well kick it out of bounch and let them start on the 40....the dude has huge legs but no boot....

When he kicks a game-winning FG, everyone who is criticizing him right now will be falling over themselves to give them props. Mark my words.

And for the person who said Jeff's never been accurate beyond 45 yards...keep in mind that one of his game-winning kicks was a 50 yarder...

i won't cause no matter how many games he wins, it still doesn't change the fact that he doesn't have a boot

You don't need a boot to be able to be a clutch kicker.

Ask San Diego.

i know, i never really critized his kicking....i'm talkin about kickoffs when the other team gets good field posistion on the regular

Anything under 40 yards I feel real good about him. Anything around the 45 yard mark, it's a crap shoot.
