Ok so after the second week of the ratbirds playing a terrible team, I am already sick of hearing they are "for real" and everyone jumping on their superbowl bandwagon. I mean they beat the Raiders this week for petes sake and their def is now unstoppable?!? . . . it is the Raiders and they actually sacked the QB LESS than the Raiders last opponent. Next week they play the clowns so we will not hear the end of it, hopefully they will play a good Chargers team and shut everyone up! Sorry just had to vent about stupid commentators and their love affair with Lewis and the Ratbirds! :banging:

Let's wait and see how well they do against a team capable of scoring outside of their practice facility. :wink02:

I don't think they deserve number 1 power rankings and what not so quickly, just because of the teams they played so far. But they are a tough, physical team who we always have very close games with.

Only 2 games into the season, I think ANY team is overrated at this point, especially those teams who have soundly beaten opponents who are in rebuilding mode or don't have as much talent as the team they lost to. I usually wait until Week 5 or 6 to really start paying attention to the teams on top and the power rankings.

???..Well to start with The Ravens have beat a Bucs team that hs managed to score a total of three points in two weeks and an oakland team that has scored 6 points in two weeks...Philly has now scored 48 points in two weeks against Houston (who is a considerably better team than Oakland) and the Giants (who they would have beat if not for an idiotic penalty at the end of thegame that let the Giants withing field goal range.

I am not an Eagles fan...but based on two weeks this season..I would say that the Eagles are the best team in the NFC...and the Ratbirds will be grounded when they play their first real opponant

I haven't acctually had a chance to watch the Ravens play, but I have heard their defense plays very well. Are they over rated? I am not sure yet, it is too early to decide that. It is true they have played 2 of the worst teams in the NFL and next week won't be any different when they pllay the Browns. But on the flip side, I heard they hit hard, make their tackles and play a hard core physical defense.

I think the ratbirds defense is what it has always been tough. Remember last year they were without Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and that took away from the overall defense, but they were still a hard nosed defense last year. This year they've got some spunk on that side of the ball again, some swagger (if you will).
However, on offense, I think they're still just average and they haven't played a team that plays hard nosed defense. We'll see what they can do then.
I think the ratbirds are overrated but it's the media (i.e John Madden) that creates the love affair with them (i.e. Peyton Manning) and then those who don't know football (i.e. the media) try to convince those of us who do know football (the diehards) that these love affair teams and players are the real deal.
But we know better!!!
There are two real deals....The Steelers and Steelers Nation!

is a typical Ravens defense to me .. McNair isnt putting up very solid numbers considering who he is playing against.. but I guess will have to see .. I still think thier offense is suspect .. but they havnt played anyone and wont next week either so is just something will have to wait and see.

I'd agree that nobody is really overrated after two weeks. Just because NFL Network or ESPN hype a team doesn't mean that football fans in general love them. The Ravens are a popular team because of the city they play in and their stars like Ray Lewis and Steve McNair.

We'll know a lot more about our division on October 1st. That's when football season really gets going.

the ravens have opened the season with 2 wins for the 1st time in franchise history. even more unbelievable is that they scored a td on their opening drive for the 1st time yesterday. sure their opposition has been horrible, but you beat the teams youre supposed to beat. (they werent even supposed to beat the bucs).

i dont think anyone here thought the steelers were overrated when they creamed the titans and texans last year to open the season.

The Ravens will be a team to reckon with as long as Steve McNair stays healthy. Should he go down for any length of time and Kyle Boller is forced to play I think there could be a slow but steady implosion in Baltimore.

I was watching some of the Ravens game yesterday and one of the announcers made the comment that once McNair gets comfortable and healthy the team will be very dangerous. I happen to agree because I dont think they are overrated. Without a good QB they have been underrated the last several seasons. He (McNair) has a chip on his shoulder from being released by the Titans which gives him fire, something Boller couldn't produce at all, and that is all the Ravens need to get them over the average NFL team hump. Unless he gets hurt of course, then they go back to mediocrity. All of Baltimore's good picks have been on the D side, with the exception of Jamal Lewis. Tonight's Jags-Steelers game and the two games against the Ravens may be the most physical games of the whole season.

I don't think they're overrated but I don't necessarily think they are super bowl faves off the bat. They still have to defeat us and Bengals. Their defense has always been superb they were just racked by injuries last year. Until now they didnt really have a decent qb since Trent Dilfer and they get that with McNair now. I just hope McNair doesn't get hurt which I'm not expecting cause of Ogden on the line.
