...what was Cowher thinking?

That he has no confidence in this offense - is he wrong?

No Dan,........ his lack of confidence does hold a great deal of merit. But hey,.....he decided to ride with certain personel,....so now we cowboy the f#ck up and suffer as a team.

I don't think it's a lack of confidence in the offense...if anything, it shows the opposite. It's lack of execution and bad decision-making that's screwing them up.

Thats the thing with trick plays - when they come off you are hailed as a genius, when they dont you look like the class dunce.

Absolutely LITP. The flea flicker I had no problem with (even though it didn't quite work out the way it was intended), but the fake punt was horrendous - the Chargers weren't fooled for a second. I'd like to see more trickery in the upcoming games, but only after the O/ST gets them down pat with the new personnel involved in executing them. The surprise and exciting trickery last season is what exacerbated this team's excitement! :tt02:

And there is even more irony. I had a problem with the fake punt because I'd prefer to play the field position game at that juncture. More on the punting game in the NFL forum. But we do have an offensive coordinator - Ken Whiz - who accepted plenty of credit last year and should be expected to shoulder some blame too. How we can zero in on Cowher only is a bit of a falsehood. Personnel and execution were mostly suspect.

I liked the way Santonio (a guy who is victim of my incessant criticism) played last night. Unfortunately his most important play is when he inadvertently fell and made contact after the interception - down on the nine. But it was not his fault that Ben thought that the rookie could overcome double coverage on a Hail Mary. Just because they call a trick play doesn't mean that the QB can't abort the mission and live for the next play.

I'm with you on this Dan. Is he wrong? Don't think so.
