I got married to a football fanatic who watched football every Sunday (the Steelers). he drove me nuts with that flippin football on tv all the time. We had 2 small kids and our son was also getting hooked on it. It was daddy and son's thing. My daughtr and I used to go shopping to get away. Then one Wednesday my husband and I had a "talk" and I convinced him that he was spending too much time on the football thing and our son was beliving football was life, etc, etc, etc, etc God I hated football. The next Sunday afternoon we all got into the car, my husband and I had decided that we would spend time with the kids, go out to dinner, pick berries just some nice all around family thing that we all couild enjoy. About 5 miles down the road on comes the dang radio and yes ..............FOOTBALL! i WAS SO ANGRY I SCREAMED TURN THIS DAMN CAR AROUND AND TAKE ME HOME! We had a huge fight! When we got home, the tv came on to some dang Steeler game and our son and daughter were sitting on the floor. My son said, "Missy do you want the Steelers to be your team?" And she said, "Yes I do!" Ratfink turned on me!

I really got to thinking that afternoon, my husband worked 6 days a week and spent Sundays with his family, so I got to thinking football must not be all that bad. I asked my husband (that day) if he would teach me about football. He had his work cut out for him because I didn't know a goal post from a first down. My husband does not like going to a game he says the potty lines at home are much shorter, he has the best seat in the house and the beer is colder. So, my son and I go to many of the games together. We have a ball and noone loves Steeler football more than I do!

I think I was born a Steeler fan. I can't rememebr a time I wasn't one. My husband and kids make fun of me all the time, because I refuse to make any kind of fall plans before I check out the football schedule.

Bled Black and Gold since birth. Everyday I have to thank my parents for bringing me into this world and raising me a Steelers fan. I am internally grateful. I was born in P.A. south east of Pittsburgh. I get chills walking into Heinz field, when our fans start"here we go Steeler" I have goose bumps and a lump in my throat. This is what being a fan is. Wouldn`t have it any other way.

Yeah, I was born a Steelers fan!

When I was little and starting to understand what football was about, I automatically started cheering for the Steelers. I started to learn about the Rooneys and their lagacy and I knew that this was the team I wanted to cheer for my entire life...

I started following them about 1961. I've only been to maybe 7-8 games all these years. Some notable ones were the OJ Simpson Bowl VS Philly, the Cleveland Brown game where Barry Foster set the rushing record. Saw them at Rich Stadium when Harry Newsome had three punts blocked for the day. Later that year I went to see them at Cleveland Stadium, and Newsome had 3 more punts blocked (That has to be a fan record of some sort). Anyway, I've been root'n hard down here in Virginia the last 9 years. Can't live without em.

well heres my little story, growing up i watch nebraska...so they were a power running team. since i live in colorado all i really saw was the broncos, but i hated there style, then i met the wonderful world cower ball, pownding the rock, which was coincidently like my college team pownding style. so as they say the rest is history, ive fell in love with the steelers and have never looked back

Well like clevestinks said we were born and raised die hard steelers fans. Terrible towels :tt: and all. Unlike clevestinks he was born in PA, I was born in Cleveland Ohio....but will always be loyal and true to the greatest team there is..... :sign01: I would never want to imagine cheering for another team but that would never happen. My husband is a Panther fan all the way...but I am slowing getting him into the steelers. I took my step son to the training camp with us last year and he is of course a Panthers fan like his father but he was getting pictures with former players and having a great time. He went home and told his dad that it is hard to not be a Steelers fan after being there....Now how great is that.... :dancing:

My family is from Pittsburgh and are all Steelers fans. I grew up in Brighton, MA right outside of Boston. But still ended up a Steeler fan due to the family connection to Pittsburgh.

Can't say that I've ever been to a regular season Steelers game. I'd like to change that this next season but I can't say for sure that'll happen.

OK, here's my story.

Back in 1975 (I was only 5 years old then), my brother and I were walking down the streets of our neighborhood in Mexico City. We came across a group of our friends who were playing a street pickup game of touch football. One of the teams was pretending to be the Steelers, and the other the Oakland Raiders. We asked if we could join, and well... guess which team I went to. I had no clue what the "Pittsburgh Steelers" were at that point.

After that fateful day I became intrigued and started catching the Steelers on tv occasionally and grew to love them. Of course, it didn't hurt that they were the best damn team in the NFL at the moment. But I'm no bandwagon fan, I stuck through the lean times of the 80s and the Stoudt - Brister years (and all the other bums in between).

I didn't attend my first live Steelers game until 2002 (monday night game at san fran) and since then I've been to two others: last year's game at Dallas, and my first ever trip to the city of Pittsburgh was the AFC Championship game. I even got interviewed (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05022/446555.stm) by the Post Gazette (if you follow the link, I'm the mexico city guy, but not the dude in the picture).

And as for my brother?

Well, he became a Raiders fan (puke), but shortly afterward he jumped ship and became a Cowboys fan (double puke). In fact, we were watching Super Bowl X together and I fell asleep (hey, cut me some slack, I was 7!); when I woke up I asked my brother who won and he said the Cowboys. I was bummed and depressed the rest of the evening and all through the night until I saw the morning paper and realized the truth (none of this newfangled intraweb doohickey yet).

To this day, I still shudder at the thought and sometimes wake up in a cold sweat thinking of what could have been had I gone to the Dark Side that fateful day in 1975 on the streets of Mexico City.

Being from PGH (East Libety) it was hard not to be one. Every Sunday @ 1:00 pm the game was always on even though my dad was not a Steeler Fan. Even after being in the US Army for 19 yrs and living in Atlanta,GA I will always be a Steeler Fan. The only reason that I have Direct TV is so that I can order the NFL Sunday Ticket so that I can watch the BLACK & GOLD do there thing. Once a STEELER Fan, always a STEELER Fan!!!
It's in your blood.

I have to agree...There seems to be something different with diehard Steeler fans than any other team. I've noticed it many times.
