I guess I expected our punt returner to be able to hold on to the ball. I guess I expected our HB to hold on to the ball. I guess I expect our offense to be able to snap the ball correctly (on two different occasions).

Tough loss, not really going to blame anyone. The turnovers put the D in some really tough spots. I think Reed would've made that kick though if Nate doesn't jump.

Ben played great in the short time he played and I think that if he's not 100% next week for Oakland, we should just go with Charlie.

2-4 is tough, but we should be 3-4 coming back home for Denver, who I think we can beat. Their offense is weak.

Batch really jumped right into that game, I am so proud of his play. 90% of backup quarterbacks would have folded in that situation. The defense was playing like shit. Its almost as if they gave away the pash rush game only because Vick is fast. Troy was one of the few that was playing like a madman all game, sorry but him missing Vick there was not his fault, name another safety that would have even been fast enough to get that hand on him. The secondary kept ignoring crumble cake or whatever the **** his name is and let Vick find him open 10+ times. The fumbles didn't help, but they were not why we lost, there were only 3 of them.

This is the NFL there are no inferior teams the media and us the fans think who we should beat but the game is played on the field. Before the game eveybody sayed we should run all over the Falcons just because the Giants did. But we didn't. ST and the defense did us in if we score 38 pts we should not lose. We got the Raiders next and guess what there beating Arizona 14-0 right now.

How was the running into the kicker Troy's fault? He was on the ground and rolling, and the kicker pulled a Joe Nedney!

The botched snap was Ben's fault - he pulled out a hair too fast and never had control of the ball. Hartings' snap was good.

Special teams mistakes, fumbles deep in their own territory...just an ugly game that we had absolutely no business losing.

You know what, i disagree with so many rules. Troy running into the kicker is not a penalty. If you are making an effort to block the ball, and u accidently run into the kicker, it should not be a penalty. Secondly, Like Cowher said, the false Start call on Washington is a bullshit call. I am so pissed off right now. The D played like shite, the special teams were still in Pittsburgh. When will we finally realize that our secondary is not that good.

We had Cincy, we let it get away with stupid plays
We had San Diego, didnlt show up in the second half
We had Atlanta, we didn't have our D or ST show up.
Today hurts more than the cincy game.

Those fumbles all occurred inside our 30 yard line, and led directly to 21 Falcon points. So it's safe to say they played a much larger role than you are thinking.

That was a bullshit call on Troy. These ****ing refs need to start being held accountable for their incompetance. Just saying that they are stressed out about the calls afterwards and crap like that (oregon vs. OK in NCAA this year, the call against the Troy interception in the IND playoff game last year) doesn't fly. That is bullshit.

The snap was NOT Ben's fault. The first one that didn't end up in a turnover was, but not the second, no way.

The special teams scares the shit out of me, but they were just a secondary reason why we lost.

None of the fumbles were returned for touchdowns so I'd have to say that there were 11 other guys out there when Atlanta scored, the first of which was on the first play of the resultant drive, unless you were watching a different game than I was.

Exactly...

This is not the first time this season turnovers have killed us in a game. We also gave a good amount of yardage up on Special Teams...

I was watching the game here in South Florida and they shut it off at 4:15 because of the 4PM games. That really sucked... I called my uncle in PA and he kept me updated on the phone and I still almost had a few heart attacks and I wasn't watching.

He made it... ohh no they called a timeout.

He missed it ohhhh wait a penalty...

He missed it our ball....

Pass down to try a 52 yarder with seconds left... oh wait a penalty.

We're going to OT...

Then we know what happens after that...

Oh well we'll be ok...

10-22-2006, 04:07 PM
Please, stop with the logic, it hurts. :dang:

How is it logic? More possession is one thing, but they only beat us in that category by 5:06. A fumble can change momentum, but a strong defense doesn't let mistakes of the offense affect their game. Three fumbles should equal more than 5:06 difference in possession, but the truth is it didn't because the defense let them get those 25-30 yards in only a few plays.

Atalnta had two turnovers as well so that makes the net +1 in their favor. Even still that should have put the possession clock more in their favor.

this entire game hurts.......I guess we just need to pull ourselves together and try it again next week

No doubt. But I believe placing the blame in the right area is the way to go.

Did you watch the replay of that second fumble? Did you see that Ben only had ONE hand underneath Hartings when he snapped the ball? That would mean he pulled out too early, because the snap was right there, and Ben simply did not get a handle on it. And if you had listened to the radio broadcast of the game while watching, as I did, both Craig Wolfley and Tunch Ilkin agreed with me...unless you think they aren't credible?

Uh, yeah I think I was watching the same game you were watching. The fact of the matter is that the Falcons scored 21 points off of those fumbles and was the difference in the game.

Are you dense, or just ignorant? Was the offensive/special team that made the fumbles on the field when they scored those points?

How is it logic?

When we turned over the ball, how many points resulted? Just answer me that one question.

Buddy, we have Whisenhunt on air right now in Pittsburgh even telling us the turnovers killed us. Please place your application.

Yes I was listening to the radio broadcast and watching it on TV ( I cant stand those announcers) and either Bill or Tunch flat out said Hartings kicked the ball right as Ben was grabbing it.

Actually, two of the fumbles occured when the offense was on the field.

I'm not saying the turnovers didn't hurt (glad you quoted my ENTIRE post there, good job on that ) but they surely were not why we lost the game. I'm as pissed about them as the next person, but unlike most people it seems on here I pay attention to the little defensive/offensive plays and not just ones that result in int, fum,td,fg etc.

Which was right after Ben mishandled the snap, which you seem to be ignoring here. If he doesn't mishandle it, Hartings doesn't kick it. Wolfley himself said Ben pulled out too early and didn't get the snap clean, which you also seem to be ignoring here. As you just so flippantly said to me, are you dense or just plain ignorant?

Well that answers the density question I asked. Because you even quoted my post which asked if the offense was on the field WHEN THEY (HAWKS) SCORED OFF THE POSSESIONS. I hate to be an intellectual elitist, but.... burn.

Buddy, turnovers cost us this game. Everybody in this city (not in Orlando) agree on that. Sorry your not able to listen. I respect your opinion on why you feel we lost. Trust me, I won't be a complete and total prick on your opinion. In my opinion, we lost this game on turnovers.

I'm glad you watch this game on the "little defensive/offensive plays". Send in your application for OC and DC. You might get the job buddy.

Unless crowd noise caused Hartings to misjudge the count a split second early, he shouldn't have been in the position to knock the ball out from where he was. I have stated like 5 times I am not the biggest fan of Ben but unlike the first time the snap didn't proceed as it should have, it was NOT his fault.

Turnovers and stupid mental mistakes is what lost the game and the lack of pass defence. How hard is it to stand still to down the ball?

If you note what I said in both posts, I simply said the fumbles led to 21 points for the Falcons. I never said anything about the defense, just pointing out that one simple fact.

So who's the dense and ignorant one here?

You're not my buddy. And just cause I'm in Orlando doesn't mean I dont have the means to get feeds of all the radio stations in Pittsburgh. I watched the entire game despite it being blacked out locally.

And no everybody in Pittsburgh does not agree on that. I connect via video-phone to a Steeleres party my family has every Sunday and there are plenty of people there who agree with me.

Obviously you are if you dont think that poor pass coverage had nothing to do with any of those 21 points. Go have a beer or something your argument lacks any evidence besides "All the local sportcasters"
