We traveled to Atlanta to play the Falcons in their dome
Another loss made it hard to write this poem
Last time we played them there was a tie score
Both teams ending up with thirty four
The game started with both quarterbacks having success
How it would play out would be anyone's guess
We couldn't stop each other - both teams kept scoring
Six lead changes ensured that it was never boring
Hines Ward played probably the best game of his career
Being from Georgia - lots of family & friends there to cheer
Hines caught eight passes - scored three touchdowns too
Including a long one where he ran right out of his shoe
As a wide receiver Holmes can sure catch a ball
He'll run for a touchdown if he doesn't trip and fall
Santonio has some issues though with making returns
Hopefully improving this is something he learns
Atlanta would continue to score when we would blunder
Are we beating ourselves? You have to wonder
Ben played his best while he was in it
But Charlie Batch was going to have to try to win it
In the third quarter Ben took a hit from three different ways
Taunted by a defender as they made their plays
Even though Charlie came in we didn't miss a beat
This game was a wild one - hard to sit in a seat
The game came to a close - it would be up to a kicker
A last second penalty couldn't have made us all sicker
The game went into OT where the Falcons won the toss
And unfortunately Vick and the Falcons handed us a loss
Even though our season hasn't so far gone our way
There's still so much football left to play
We must move on and focus on this week
And go to Oakland and start a win streak

I think Big Ben will be back at the helm
to lead us back to our usual playoff realm
we really have no need for four leaf clovers
we just need to stop the damn turnovers!
and with the talent all we need is the passion
while we all sport the latest Steeler fashion
i like your poems and the look in your eye
as Bill would say
now just let us focus on a repeat
this Steeler fanatic wouldn't have it
any other way.
