View Full Version : Should the Steelers change their uniforms

07-20-2005, 11:43 PM
In recent history many teams have drastically or minimally changed their uniforms...the Steelers did so, in a subtle fasion, but only the style of numbers and putting the logo on the left chest of the uniforms.

Personally I dont ever see them changing them to something more modern, atleast not as long as the Rooney's own the team. We are too trenched in tradition to do that.

Would you be in favor of new uniforms? Same colors or new? Drastic change or just subtle?

I want them to keep them the way they are, to much history. I like the colors, and I love the logo one one side of the helmet only. I used to think the "number change" sucked, but now when I see Lloyd or Woodson with the big numbers it looks old and weird. I like them just the way they are.

Some think Penn State is due for a uniform change, but I like it the way they are. I love the plain look.....

I think you would be mad to change your uniforms colour scheme. It is a powerful looking combination for some reason.
Maybe you could have a pop legend on the side of your helmet tho - Elvis seems to have worked well for us.

I'm still not into the new numbers. The most rediculous uniforms were the ones that they had in the 60s with the gold triangle over the shoulder pads comming to a peak just below, mid chect.

I say keep the uniforms the way they are. They have a clean look to them. I don't see the Rooney's changing them anytime soon.

No Changes !!

I think they should be exactly like they had in the 70's....The block letters were much better. And the stripes were down near the elbow.

The players today don't want real long sleeves, especially the offensive players. It's a handy place to grab. They also might lose their UnderAmour endorsment. You may want to look at the old steeler pictures from back in the 70s. A lot of the lineman had theirs altered to the same length we have to day.

It depends,if they lose another AFC championship game at home I think they ought to get pink tights and toto's.

I watch old Steeler games I've collected thru the years, and I have to say I love the style from our superbowl years better than todays.
I remember seeing old Steeler film clips of them wearing white pants with a black stripe with thier away jersey(white). Now something like that occasionaly wouldnt be bad, like how the Saints mix it up with thier pants from Gold to Black and visa versa.

Besides they better not change the helmet because it won't match the tattoo on my arm any more. :D

Keep them them the same!

I like the OLD SCHOOL style. It represents a no nonsence/toughness attitude which is exactly how we play. I also agree that the S T E E L E R uniforms will not change as long as the Rooney's are the owners. Frankly that could mean they will never change. Can you
picture anyone else owning the STEELERS?????????????

07-21-2005, 06:53 PM
I can't see anyone but the Rooneys owning them. They make Pittsburgh proud and run that team with class.

I agree...the Rooney's are respected by the entire NFL, and they really make the Steelers what they are today!

If the Colors ever change , I will cry like a baby.

I don't think we ever have to worry about that...but I would definately cry too :o

Same here. Theres three things you just don't change. The team name, the colors, or the logo. Change the numbers or whatever just don't change those.

Never change the uniform. The STeelers scream tradition. We run the ball and smack you around that is how we are known.

Go back to the block letters and go with black pants with the away jerseys.

07-24-2005, 02:01 PM
I do think they should wear black pants for couple games a season.....like on night games, or Thanksgiving day, or on the Saturday games....

07-24-2005, 05:03 PM
I agree with the block numbers, they look alot better

I was searching the web and found this website. http://www.southernsteelfanclub.com/uniform.html Thought you guys might find it interesting. It shows some of the different uniforms through the years.

I don't think we should change the uniforms because everyone knows us as the black and gold and I like the tradition, its what makes us special. I definetely do not think we should change the colors because Pittsburgh is known as the "City of Black and Gold". I think we are the only city that has all three teams with the same colors (Steelers, Pirates and Penguins ALL Black and Gold) and I wouldn't want to change that. I am perfectly happy with the way they are now! :)

No Black pants!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iowa called and ask the Steelers back in the 70`s if it was alright to copy thier uniforms. They wanted to go with a style from a winning organization. This is the biggest compliment. It didn`t work for them , But they still wear the same uniforms. Imagine if Penn State got a Nittany Lion on thier helmets, just wouldn`t be the same. Please leave them , you can change the style of no. but not the overall look.

If you want to see some changes, change the brownies diahrea unies
