Down with Fair Weather Fans!!!! :tt02:

Anyway...now for a story:

Subject: FW: Strange Ruling--Child Custody Case

Pittsburgh, PA (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Pittsburgh courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Pittsburgh Steelers, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

A friend of mine and I had fun with the fair weather fans yesterday. Before the game about 5 people at my parents' bar were calling for Batch. I told them you just wait and see. Well come touchdown number two they were like Go Ben! My friend and I just looked and said what were you saying about Batch???

Unfortunately, a guy was arrested about one section over from us yesterday for beating the hell out of his fourteen year old son in the stands. Pretty pathetic. I saw the POS getting tossed out with handcuffs on and about four cops escorting him out of the area.

Glad someone had the sense to at least call the cops.

No idea. A man sitting behind the father and son threw some type of liquid beverage on the father and had a few choice words. I'm not sure if he was also arrested and thrown out of the stadium.

My 14 year old son is 6'-2" and 240lbs. I wonder if that a-hole would like a piece of him.

See thats the problem. No sane jury would ever convict the onlooker if he took a piece of the dad but he would probably still be arrested, lose his job, etc etc. In some cases vigilantism is warranted and should be encouraged, that being one of them.

I havn't missed a Steelers game in 8 years thanks to NFL Sunday Ticket and I'm not about to miss one yet even with a 3-6 Steelers team.

Amen to that! I just got DirecTV this year for that very reason and right after I ordered (with HD Superfan thrown in) I found a kick ass Steeler Bar near where I live in suburban Detroit. No I go hang out with 50 die hard fans every week. It used to be 75+ but there are fair weather fans...

I agree - Tony H. and I were posting in another thread on a meaningless TD scored at the end of the Steelers-Titans game to end the abysmal 1999 season (T.H. - I found the box score online and based on Bobby Shaw scoring the last TD I think he was the guy with the Superman T-shirt), which let me know that on this board I will find fans who will watch come good times or bad as much as I will.

I will be watching every play until this lost season crashes to a close on New Year's Eve in Cincy.

GO STEELERS and go Sunday Ticket!

Bobby Shaw lol. Now thats a name that breaks back some memories of the last few or so years. I'll never forget in 2001 when the Steelers went to Baltimore and clinched the division. The big play in that game was Kordell Stewart to Bobby Shaw for a 90 yard TD pass.

My parents are from Pittsburgh so I had no choice growing but to be a Steelers fan. Man I love my Steelers when they are the champs or if they don't even make the playoffs. I'm a die hard Pirates fan. The Pirates havn't had a winning season since 1992. I'm very proud of my families Pittsburgh roots and will always support the Pittsburgh sports teams.

I guess no matter win or lose, the Steelers will always be a part of Pittsburgh and have a place in the 'Burgh's heart. I mean, there are only a few people that are Pittsburgh natives that don't no anything about football. The one's who know very little usually know who Ben Roethlisberger is and even how to spell his last name.
As for the beatings, well, some people are just sick. At least they got arrested. I can not stand seeing kids get beat for no reason.

Three seperate thoughts..

1. Still watching? Heck yeah, I paid for Tivo AND NFL ticket to watch the Steelers... I ain't giving up now!

2. Lady hitting Ben. Her family probably disowned her for a week.

3. Father beating the son. Excuse me for a second, but... Head.. meet bleacher. Bleacher meet head. Hey, have I introduced mr. bleacher to you mr. head? Yes? Let me do it again.

I HATE fair-weather fans!! Last year when the Steelers lost 4 games in a row, everyone in school and my family and all the news reporters were like their season is over, but at the beginning of the season, I told my dad that we were going to win the Superbowl and I stuck true to that the whole season. My dad is a season-ticket holder, but he usually sells all of his tickets. When he got the letter in the mail before the Cincinnati play-off game, he asked me if he should buy tickets to the Superbowl. Of course I said yes, but he said no that they weren't good enough. And what happened? This year, I still think they can win the Superbowl, but there is a harder chance. You can ask my mom how much I love the Steelers and I've never said anything bad about any one of them or gave up on them in the middle of a game or a season!!
