I don't know if I can just name one. First I stick to players that I have seen play. I started watching and following the Steelers in the late 1980's.

So growing up my two favorite Steelers were Rod Woodson and Greg Lloyd. Plus I was a big Bubby Brister fan when I was a kid. I still have my Brister starting lineup action figure.lol

Of course Bettis and Hines Ward are among my favorites. Dirt Dawson was another favorite of my mine. There is to many to really just pick one.

Old Jack Lambert. No other player in football scared so many players.

12-11-2006, 02:35 PM
Let's see it would be a coin flip: Heads - Lambert, Tails - Hines, if it should land on it's side - Weegie Thompson (all 79 recpts and 11 td's)

Franco Harris

Louis Lipps
Carnell Lake
Rod Woodson
Kevin Greene *would say Greg Lloyd but I am NOT gonna support an abuser*
Jerome Bettis
Eric Green
Merril Hoge *still the only Steelers RB to have back to back 100 yard games in the playoffs
Troy Polomalu
Just to name a few... Gotta Love All The Black N Gold!!:helmet:

Jason Gildon followed closely by Faneca and Mike Merriwether.

12-11-2006, 04:16 PM
Favorite of all time -- the two Jacks - Jack Ham followed closely by Jack Lambert - as a kid and all thru high school and college - I wore #59 and played LB/DE

I still have posters I collected as a kid from all of the H of Famers - Joe, LC, Bradshaw, Swanny, Stallworth, Harris, Blount etc

More current era favorite is Hines Ward - most complete receiver of our time!

Okay Im EXTREMLY young in comparision to other people on here. But when I was really little I liked Terry Bradshaw, now its Ben, Hines and Heath.

12-11-2006, 06:14 PM
Good question! Wasn't a big Bradshaw fan until I met him on a USO tour and got to sit and talk with him. Really cool guy. I would have to say though that during the '70s was Mean Joe, after him would say Levon Kirkland and Mark Bruener (wish Kordella would have thrown to him more), and now adays my favorite is the UNH grad, #35 Dan Kreider!

12-11-2006, 06:24 PM
I would have to say Jack Lambert, Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Rod Woodson, Jerome Bettis, and Troy Polamalu are among my favorites.

12-11-2006, 07:08 PM
Troy Polamalu!

12-11-2006, 07:26 PM
For a fan who never got to see the teams in the 70's play, my answer is simple: GREG LLOYD! The man was a beast, and i had every football card of his ever made when I was a kid. It broke my heart that he didn't get to retire as a Steeler.

I liked the Steelers because of my parents, I LOVED the Steelers because of Greg Lloyd.:tt02:

Jack Lambert, there is no other.

Steel Pit

Kordell Stewart followed by Neil O'Donnell. I'm freaking kidding.

Jack Lambert and Terry Bradshaw are tied on my list.

12-12-2006, 10:28 AM
Franco Harris is on the top of the list....it was my adolescent crush on him that got me watching the Steelers in the first place.

Jerome Bettis
Lynn Swann
"Mean" Joe Greene
John Stallworth
Mel Blount
Jack Lambert
Terry Bradshaw
Greg Lloyd
Rod Woodson

(In that order)

There are some others but that's my top list

12-12-2006, 12:44 PM
too many favorites to list so i will make a shorter list of dislikes

No kidding - we went for a long walk in the desert between Terry and Ben - a few of them teased us on occasion - but in the words of Bill Walsh when it comes to mediocre QBs:
"they play just good enough to get you beat.."
