Jacksonville AGAIN???? I swear, they deliberately try to do as well as we do so that they can play us every year. This will be the 4th straight year the Jags will be on the schedule, and they aren't in our division!

Not sure that schedule is going to be as easy as it may look. This is the NFL ..... things rarely go as predicted ...... how many Raider's fans looked at the schedule in the beginning of the year and thought, "yea, we'll win the game against the Steelers?"

Besides the New England, Seattle and the div. rivals, there are a few teams on that schedule that I think are on the upswing. San Fran, Buffalo, and even Arizona (could have a powerful offense) might be tougher than they were this year.

Of course, I think our Steelers will be much better, so I have confidence.

You are correct the Jets are better ...... didn't intend the list to be all inclusive (I didn't mention of Denver or Jax, either). More specifically though, the Jets made the playoffs this year. I was focusing on teams that were not good this year but might be a surprise next year.

In any case, I think the Steelers likely to rebound and take care of business.

I couldnt agree more with a thread that has been written so far. This schedule looks pretty tough to me. Of course with our normal division games in Cincinnati and Baltimore and Cleveland usually always plays us tough as well.. then you got the Seahawks 49Ers Bills New England and the Jets.. not to mention Rams which love to pass that ball ALOT... we must be optimistic and I believe that with some tinkering with our team that we will be back in contention next year...HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!

Actually, I like tough schedules. If your team is strugling or beat up physically, then a timely creampuff is probably a good thing. However, in general, I think a tough schedule makes you a tough team. Plus, a false sense of superiority will lead to disaster in the playoffs. Obviously, it would be nice if the tougher teams were spread thru the schedule, as opposed to one after another, but as the saying goes; "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and more capable of whipping a bungle."

I messed up on the Away out of division game by PLACING. Sorry guys. The Away game is Denver if I remember right. Don't take my word for it on sites except for 14 of 16 games.

JAG they relased this a LONG time ago. You can find this in the schedule page of our regualr website SteelersFever.com. We have the 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 schedules. Next to the 2006 Schedule you will see a link that says future schedules. The last 2 are to be determined. I know we are to play the AFC West/South in terms of the divisions we are supposed to play by placing. I know 14 of 16 as I have stated are correct.

Steelers play third-place schedule in 2007
Monday, January 01, 2007

The Associated Press

PITTSBURGH -- For the second season in a row, the Pittsburgh Steelers won't play a schedule overloaded with first-place teams.

The Steelers (8-8) finished third in the AFC Central despite having the same record as division runner-up Cincinnati (8-8), and thus will play a third-place schedule in 2007. The AFC's other third-place teams -- Buffalo (7-9), Jacksonville (8-8) and Denver (9-7) -- are on their schedule.

The Steelers also play every team in the AFC East and the NFC West.

At home, the Steelers will meet San Francisco (7-9), Seattle (9-7), Buffalo, Miami (6-10), Jacksonville and their AFC North opponents, Cincinnati, Cleveland (4-12) and Baltimore (13-3).

On the road, the Steelers oppose Arizona (5-11), St. Louis (8-8), New England (12-4), New York Jets (10-6), Denver and their division opponents.

There are three first-place teams on the schedule: AFC North champion Baltimore, plus AFC East champion New England and AFC West champion Seattle. The only AFC playoff teams they won't meet are Indianapolis (12-4) and San Diego (14-2).

By losing the AFC North title to Cincinnati last season, the Steelers avoided playing a first-place schedule this season even after winning the Super Bowl. Still, they missed the playoffs for the second time in six seasons despite not having to play 2005 division champions New England and Indianapolis.

There isn't a conspiracy theory to you guys playing JAX. The schedules are pre-determined. You play one differn't AFC division each year, one differn't NFC division each year and the team that finished the same place as your team in the other AFC divisions. :dang:

All in all it is just back and forth fun. There are alot of Pats fans that came out of the woodwork since 2001 (surprise). I always wear my Steelers shirts to work (at least 1 for everyday of the week) and I am the only one in a sea of Pats shirts. It will be nice to play them again and win, but I am still looking forward to beating them in the post season this decade (which is what I am constantly reminded of).
Whenever I go to a Pats game I wear my Ward jersey, and I have never been harassed or hasseled.

We have a good decent favorible schedule. I think this upcoming offseason into the next season you will see the team have that hunger in there eye again. They will come back to play with heart and motivation and make a solid run at the playoffs to make a better attempt of returning to the SB. I hope Cowher stays to see this, to coach this team that will be hungry again for another SB.

It's usually released around the draft in April

01-23-2007, 03:31 PM
Ove the last 2-3 years, the actual schedule has been released the first weekend in April with the draft on the third weekend (not that I've got them listed on previous calendars or anything).
However, prior to that, the schedule was usually released the Monday after the draft. I guess with the conference setup, it's easier to determine the opponents (I believe you can actually see the Steelers opponents through 2010 on nfl.com), it makes the schedule easier to determine.

Home:

Baltimore- The kicked our ass twice last season.Losing to the Ravens is not an option. They are wearing a target in the division. Also, thier success relies soley on the defense and McNair, with the running-game being used more to eat up the clock.I think Tomlin will mark this game on the calander, because they wiped up our field with us.We won't lose to them in Pittsburgh two years in a row.

Cincinatti- Will they have any players not in jail or under suspension this year?Thier defense isn't very good, and they are without thier top two picks from the 2005 draft...both big layers on the defense.Thier OL will be less dominant with them losing Eric Steinbach. They still have CJ,TJ,and Henry at WR (if Henry can keep his arse out of jail.Carson Palmer is an elite QB in the NFL and can easily get the ball to those three targets.Rudi Johnson is an excellent RB who can pound the defense and break a long one every now and then. It's time to show them we can beat them in Pittsburgh,Steelers win this one.

Cleveland- This team will be no better this year than it was last year,it can even be worse!Thier o-line isn't very good, and Bentley may not play this year if he opts for a second knee surgery.Thier secondary is in shambles with the loss of Gary Baxter (two ron patellar tendons, career probally over).Leigh Bodden can't seem to stay healthy.McCucheon can't seem to stay healthy, and he also can't cover for dog crap. They also might lose saftey Brain Russell in FA,but they have a young backup in Brodney Pool.An easy ass-kicking.

Buffalo- Good defense, good RB,inconsistant QB.That's all I can really say about ths team. They are beatable, but they can also surprise you.I think we take this game/

Miami- New HC.Can C-Pepp return healthy AND be the 2004 C-Pepp not the 2005/2006 Cullpepper? Also, what to do about Ricky Williams? His suspension will be over...will he be welcomed back, traded,or released? The defense is starting to get old,but Jason Taylor is still a top DE in the league. We kicked thier ass last year,I think we can do it again.

Jacksonville- They always give us trouble. They have a very good defense,a good veteran RB and a young RB that will be a star in the NFL most-likley.Thier QB situation is shaky,Leftwitch might be traded or released and Garrard doesn't really seem to be the answer at QB.I think this year we move to ball against them and win it,but it's probally gonna be a close one.

San Fransisco- Steadily improving and has a shot at the playoffs in the weak NFC.Everyone thought Alex Smith was gonna be a huge bust, but he's showing that he can definatly play QB at this level.Frank Gore has shown to be a good RB and is a top NFC back.Thier defense is faulty and easily beaten.I wouldn't want to get into a shootout with them.If we run the ball effectivley, take advantage of thier pourous defense, and confuse Alex Smith...we win the game easily.

Seattle- I think they will look at this as a revenge game for SB XL.They are still a top NFC team, but a top NFC team we will beat.

Away:

Baltimore- They shut out out when we played here last season.Tomlin will have this game circled on the calendar also. They are beatable, but tough as hell at home.Toss-up,whoever turns it over the least/plays best defense wins it.

Cincinatti- We have beat them in The World's Largest Litter Box the past two years in a row, this year will be no different.

Cleveland- Same pittiful Cleveland team, another season sweep for the Steelers.

New England- A top 5 team in the league.Brady is still one of the smartest QB's in the game.Bellichick is losing some of that magic touch though. They are beatable, but it will be a dogfight.

N.Y. Jets- A big surprise last year,I think this year more teams will catch on.We'll be able to confuse Pennington who lacks the arm to go deep so the passes will be shorter slants most likley. We'll klet our ILB's tee-off on thier recievers. They don't have much of a running game,so stacking the box won't be needed.

Denver- It'll be Jay Cutler's first full-year as a starter. Will he flourish or will he burn? He's got a #1 reciever in Javon Walker.Who knows about the run-game...Tatum or Mike Bell?Thier defense collapsed towards the end of last season, but they ares till a very good unit.I think we cant ake advantage of Jay Cutler's inexperiance and confuse him with our zone-blitz.

Arizona- Big game for rookie HC Ken Whisenhut. He wnats to show the Steelers that they made a mistake by passing him over. They have a lot of youth on the team, and thier offense can be explosive.I don't know about thier defense though,I think this team is all offense. We can beat them, because they are currently still the Cardinals...but The Whiz could easily turn them around.

St. Lois- This team is steadily improving.Bulger is a very efficient QB,Torry Holt is one of the best recievers in the NFL,and Jackson brings a power-running game to the table...but he is also very fast. The defense is in flux as they bring in younger playes to fill the holes.I think we can beat them, but they can easily be a playoff team this year.

Jacksonville AGAIN???? I swear, they deliberately try to do as well as we do so that they can play us every year. This will be the 4th straight year the Jags will be on the schedule, and they aren't in our division!

We play them because we both finished in 3rd place in our divisions.

It sucks they're not coming to San Diego, was kind of getting used to them coming close every year. I guess I can make it out to Arizona.
A lot of winnable games in that schedule. Baltimore will be playing a lot tougher schedule than last year so it should be anyone's division, except the Brownies.

We have ended their season for the second straight year. But this time with Carson Palmer. 4 years in the NFL and the only thing that Carson has to show for it is the Pro Bowl MVP in '07. Maybe he will buy himself a Pro Bowl Championship Ring. When "Sin"cy wins their first SB and has somebody in the HOF other than Anthony Munoz, then talk.

2006 W/L Records.
Baltimore 13-3
Their D is always going to be tough to break, Air McNair still a good QB but his form is certainly slipping along with his age!

Cincinnati 8-8
Explosive non-stop offense, but both D-Line and O-Line are still terrible and easy to break

Cleveland 4-12
Lewis definetly makes the Browns a lot better even if he is only there for a single year, Lewios is a strong RB who even though he cant dodge and spin like he used to he can easily break a good few tackles before being taken down so Browns... but Defense still sucks

Buffalo 7-9
They've done pretty bad from the FA and I think will be easy opponents come next season

Miami 6-10
Lost Welker a key blow, hould be interesting seing you know who line up in white but even with JP 7 and 39 should easily break down the D and their O is lackluster will be like lambs to the slaughter come gameday

San Francisco 7-9
All these FA signing I think will do jack shit to their outcome, they'll end up going 7-9/8-8 and one of those losses will be against us

Seattle 9-7
vastly under performed last season, but if both Hasselbeck and Shaun get past pre-season without any injuries the 'Hawks will once agian be a pretty dominating team and a tough opponent

Jacksonville 8-8
pffffft easy win, both their QB's are fat and slow and love to get sacked... oh and also throw the ball at the opposing team more than their own players...easy

New England 12-4
one of the few losses we'll sustain will be against a Pats side who despite me hating them to no end look ridiculously good and will defo. make the playoffs and probs. go all the way

N.Y. Jets 10-6
Mangini is a god, im sorry but one of if not the best CURRENT NFL coach and the Jets will be hard to down, but down them we will

Arizona 5-11
a win but not one we will take for granted, vastly underperformed when their squad deserved a 7-9 at LEAST

St. Louis 8-8
I hate Bulger my fave QB and deadly in the pocket, with a re-formed O-Line he will be awesome and with Jackson on the ground this will be one of the closer games

Denver 9-7
Cutler sucks, overrated and we'll whoop him and his pony boys

Final Record - 11-5 :helmet: :tt02:

We'll split with Baltimore again at least. They are the team to beat in the division, Their D is strong and intense, and Mcnair is the Steeler Killer. The Steelers need to reload this offseason and show them that they aren't intimidated after last year's debacles.

If we don't fumble the games away and do what we do, we sweep the Bungles. Both times we lost to them recently was the result of turnovers.

Lewis makes the Browns a bit tougher, but everything else still sucks.

The Broncos are very beatable. Once again, limit the stupid turnovers.

The Jaguars are an underachieving squad with a strong D that play us tough. Beatable.

New England has that uncanny ability to manage to beat the Steelers. Plus it's in Foxboro. I say we lose that one.

The Super Bowl XL rematch against Seattle in Pittsburgh will be intriguing after what happened after the game. I want to beat 'em so their fans cry and moan again.

Don't sleep on the Cardinals. In a crappy NFC West, they just might finally break through this year with Whiz.

I have no idea what to say about the Rams or the Niners. Steven Jackson is a dangerous back, though. The Niners, like the Cards, are an up and coming team that should not be taken lightly.

I say we beat the Dolphins in Joey Porter's homecoming game. The fish gave us a bit of challenge the last time they were here. Still Beatable.

The Jets under Mangini returned to respectability last year. But they're still far from overtaking the Pats in the East. Beatable.

The Bills...? Beatable.

10-6 as we get in the playoffs as a wild card.
Ok.. first of all. I am gonna be realistic about my predictions on these wins/losses. I honestly think that the Steelers will split the season series with the Ravens and Bengals this year.
The 49ers will not be a easy win.. this team under Alex Smith is comming together nicely and with a few breaks here and there for them and they are in the playoffs. Seahawks Jaguars and Rams will not be push overs by no means. I really think that the 10-6 mark could be 8-8 or it could be 12-4. Alot depends on Big Bens' comeback. If he comeback strong and has the season that we are used to seeing out of him, then we have a chance to run into deep playoff contention. Willie should have a monster year this year if our O Line can get things together and play up to Steelers standards and I think that they will.

i say a modest 9-7 or a 10-6, but i have good reason to say so...

our division leader is getting weaker (seattle) the rams are getting older and the cardinals... well they are just the cardinals...

we do have the second easiest schedule.. so a 2 -3 game turnaround w/ all the offseason moves we've had is not hard to believe. But i do wish you guys good luck... except when you play us...

You know, I actually picked the Niners to win the NFC West. Most of our fans, including many on this board, think the Niners will be a pretty good team. So it isn't like we don't have any respect for them over here. Besides, why wouldn't a Steeler fan think our team would do well?

its not that i dont' think they will do good... its just that some people are unrealistic... going from.... were you guys 8-8 last year? to 13-3, 12-4 or something like that that some people are quoting is just out there.. but i wish you the best.

If our first-team offense plays all season the way they did last night, who's to say we couldn't finish 12-4 or 13-3? They marched right down the field on a team many pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. So while it's unlikely they'll finish with that good of a record, it isn't unrealistic. I personally see them at 11-5 at best, but more than likely 10-6 and a wild card berth.

Good luck to the Niners!

You guys had a nice second half last season - up and coming team for sure. I still wouldn't rule out the Cards - all they really needed to do was to beef up their O-line which they addressed in the draft from what I've read.

If you watched the HOF game last night, I'm sure you could see that the Steelers first teams totally dominated the NFC champs' first teams and all in all, looked pretty much in sync. Tomlin has worked them very hard in camp and their hard work showed on the field and definitely paid off, though in a meaningless game. The best is yet to come - you heard it here first! :tt02:

Good luck to you and the 9'ers this season - I've always had the utmost respect for them.
