Cowher Tribute Poem (01/07/07)

This poem is dedicated to the man with the Chin
After 15 years as the Steelers coach where do I begin?

Friday Jan 5th was a sad day for Steeler Nation
As we all waited for the official information

We all sensed it was coming but it was still hard to hear
You gave us memories of a lifetime during your outstanding career

So many memories - where can I start?
You coached with so much emotion, so much heart

You took the players whether veterans or beginners
And consistently turned them into a team of winners

There were some bumps in the road on some random Sunday
But you were determined and you did it your way

Over 15 seasons - there's so much we saw
The expressions, the finger pointing, flying spit, the Jaw

No one can replace you - you're one of a kind
And in whatever new coach the Rooneys will find

Seeing someone else on the sideline will be a little hard to swallow
You will sure be a tough act to follow

You say it's not about the destination but the journey to get there
Thanks for all the memories we've been able to share

We were there with you - win, loss, or tied
Thanks Coach Cowher - it's been a great ride
