:hunch:.........the police in Pittsburgh already have their hands full staking out 60 year old women in Chrysler New Yorkers.......they don't need to be worrying about what the rest of the team is up to.

Marvin Lewis Surprisingly Not Headed To PittsburghPosted Jan 9th 2007 9:26PM by JD Arney
Filed under: Bengals, AFC North

Apparently a rumor was floating around Cincinnati last week that Marvin Lewis might be a candidate for the head coaching position in Pittsburgh. Marvin is from the Pittsburgh area, and I guess that's enough to get talk started.

Which, forgive me for the tangent, is kind of ridiculous. I can't really understand how rumors like this get started because Marvin Lewis is still under contract to the Cincinnati Bengals. That means he could:

A) Accept a college head coaching job
B) Sit out a year (or more) and then come back to coach for someone else
C) Be traded to another team (like Jon Gruden to Tampa Bay)

That's it. There's no other way, and looking at those three options I don't see anything that could possibly have ended with Marvin Lewis in Pittsburgh for the 2007 season. This rumor predictably started on Cincinnati talk radio though, so I'm undoubtedly giving the rumor spreaders far too much credit.

Anyway, a Bengals spokesman did address the issue, saying that "For any number of reasons, that's not going to happen".

The lesson, as always? Don't listen to talk radio unless you want your brain to rot.

typical lazy bengalfans. always looking for someone else to take their trash out for them. its not the steelers so i guess they will just have to let it pile up.

why would the steelers even want a coach that could turn them into an 8-8 team? that may work for the bengals and their easy to please fans, but nothing short of the playoffs in 10 of 15 years will work in the burgh

If Marvin "Warden" Lewis were to become the HC of the Steelers I think I would seriously have to consider offing myself. http://www.bomberboys.com/modules/Forums/images/smiles/suicide.gif

question: when the plumber comes over and unclogs a giant turd from ones pipes do they praise him like hes emeril cooking thanksgiving dinner?

Hey ...but the good news is that IF we did get Marvin (forgive me for even typing this)...the ONE consolation we would have is that we could plan ahead. Playoff game....January 2025... 16 years from last week....mark it on the calendar.

The mere thought of that lahooooser HC'ing the Steelers makes my skin crawl. :jawdrop: With his track record of signing jail dwellers and scum that wouldn't make the grade as the clingons in a toilet bowl, the Rooneys would hire Kordumbell as a HC before they'd hire Black Jesus.

Cincy talk radio and Cincy fans will continue to jump off the Marvin bandwagon until the Bengals manage a win or two next season. Then they'll be stepping on each other to climb back up.

Then again ..Cincy fans are all waiting to see who wins the Pats-Chargers game so they can buy new jerseys

If they were to hire The Warden,I might just stop rooting for the Steelers because that means that the Rooney family has chosen to do away with class in the orginization.

Sry, I've been puking since I read this thread.... the tought sickens me. If Marvin is even in a 50 yard radius of Hinez Field, unless it's a sunday during gametime, I'm gonna riot.

Look,

It would be impossible to bring ANY Bengal player or coach to Pittsburgh now.

Our team requires reading.
