Ok guys, post your thoughts and commentary here on the first of the Divisonal game - Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens.

Personally, im really looking forward to a real 'clash of styles' here - hard nosed, big hitting defense against a powerful, weapon heavy offense.

I dont think the Ravens will be poorly coached enough to stick completely with the run, even if it isnt working for the duration of the game.

McNair remains an excellent QB and should inspire enough from his offense to keep Indy from dominating T.O.P.

I can't imagine Indy having their own way with their finely tuned, timing based offense - a couple of big hits on Marv and Reggie ought to make them think twice about the quick slants.

Addai hasnt really proven anything to me this year - teams are scared of the passing offense the Colts possess and dont allocate as many resources to stopping the run.

His breakout game was against Philly, and outside the Colts themselves, it was one of the worst run defending performances of the season.

17-6 Baltimore

I have to agree with the assessment thus far. I have to admit that I think that the ratbirds :sign02: are going to be more than the Colts can handle. Wish it weren't so. Just my gut instinct.

the trendy thing is to throw out blanket statements like "the colts run defense sucks" and ignore the impact that corey simon and bob sanders wouldve had in some of those games, this year.

also trendy to say how the loss of james has taken firepower out of the colts offense. the colts have limped into the playoffs but the return of dallas clark was huge last week. unfortunately for them the loss of b. stokely and his replacement r. proehl takes away much of what they like to do. i think theyve lined up in the 3wr set more than any other team in recent years. the fact that they signed proehl shows what they think of their other wr's on the roster. if freeney can use his size, speed (hes giving up 9 inches to ogden), and leverage against the gimpy giant, AND hit steve mcnair, they have a chance to create a turnover or 2 that will probably be key to them winning.

look for both team to focus hard on shutting down the others TE's. im ignoring my brain and picking with my heart. colts pull off the upset.

Would i prefer that the Colts win ? Yes,.....but is that likely,....uhhhhh,....."not so much".
I think the Rats are just too strong Defensively. I do however think that the Colts offense won't be AS inept against them as ours was. So they have a shot if they can create some turnovers. And do the unthinkable (for them),......perform soundly against the Rats ground game.

I think that the colts defense showed that they can play tough. I think that ratbirds are going to meltdown. I was looking at there schedule last night. I believe they played four playoff teams all year. There schedule for the most part was powder puff.

If the Ravens get a healthy lead early then Indy could be in trouble unless they keep it close. Once a good lead is had by the birds then Peyton will get blitzed mercilessly until he burns them. I expect a close game though and if Indy has the ball last and a chance to win........two words: Adam Vinatieri.

My gamebreakers: Indy - Reggie Wayne, Balt - Derrick Mason

The flea flicker was a hell of a throw. Hey with a 9-3 lead Peyton just needs not to float anymore passes. He almost threw a second INT which would have gave the Ravens nice field position. I don't think the Ravens offense is going to do much. So no mistakes by the Colts and they got this game.

who do you think peyton is going to blame his performance on?hopefully inspiration as the underdog. im wondering what the ravens defense will blame their performance on. they were supposed to be creaming the colts.

113 yds vs. 111 yds. so far the colts d is going toe to toe with the ravens unit. this looks like it will come down to who tires first. did the ravens lay off hurt them, or will the colts wear down because they played last week? should be an equally close 2nd half.

(woulda liked to seen bob sanders catch that after the 2 min. warning)

You know what?

Indy is 9-3 up but Pay-ton is looking like having his second game where he has thrown more INT's than TD's.

This will not please Mr. Manning at all.

He is frustrated and he has his patented 'Manning face' on - there is no way he plays another half without throwing at least 1 pick.

On another note, if the Colts do lose, id like to see someone try and pin it on the Colts D.

Oh i'm fully aware of the nature of how poor their O-line is 76. And this is exactly why Green failing to aggressively address this weakness upon his arrival there makes him inept. Along with being a poor "Leader of Men" and overly cautious decision maker. Leinhart should have begun the season as the starter. Actually I dont mean 'like the Pats'.

The Patriots scored over 3 times as many points on the Colts as the Ravens did.

The Patriots put up 24 first downs on the Colts D, the Ravens managed 13.

The Patriots gained 148 yards rushing, the Ravens managed 80.

I dont know many people 'in the know' who actually thought that the Ravens offense was 'really good' - mind you being a fan of a team that conceded 58 points in two games them - you probably wished that was the case.

That has to hurt - to get so badly owned by an offense that couldn't score a TD against the Colts

Your right Tony Tom Brady had nothing to do with the Pats success its all due to the fact the Pats had a clutch kicker.:toofunny:

Yea if Adam V would have been with the Colts in Peytons entire play-off career it would have been a different story for Peyton.

Most of the Peytons losses in the play-offs have been by double digits. Except for the Steelers last year where the Colts lost by three.

The Jets creamed the Colts 41-0 that one year. Adam V would have made the difference there.:toofunny:

The Colts two losses to the Pats where by 10 or more points. The Colts lost 24-14 in the AFC title game to the Pats a few years back and then the next year the Pats beat the Colts 20-3 in the divisional round. Again Adam V made all the difference for the Pats.

I can't remember the scores from Peytons first couple play-off games. But the Titans beat Peyton in his first play-off start and then it was the Dolphins beating Peyton in his second play-off start down in Miami. But I don't think both games were close. Again a clutch kicker wouldn't have mattered except last year when Vandertool choked against the Steelers.

its not for me, which is why i firmly stand by the statements i make.

Yea if Adam V would have been with the Colts in Peytons entire play-off career it would have been a different story for Peyton.
possible. and if vanderjagt had been with brady in his entire playoff career it wouldve been a different story. vanderjacgt doesnt make those clutch kicks in the snow or THREE clutch game winning kicks in the superbowl. vanderjagt probably only makes 2 of the 5 fg's vinatieri makes today.

lets just do a tale of the tape:

-playoff game winning kicks: vinatieri- 5, vanderjagt-0
-playoff game losing kicks: vinatieri- 0, vanderjagt-1 (i cant remember if he missed any in the critical titans and miami losses).
-times called an idiot kicker by the leader of the team: vinatieri-0, vanderjagt-1
-times cut mid season: vinatieri-0, vanderjagt-1

advantage: vinatieri.

once again, manning must now know what brady felt like having a kicker to back him up (tony dungy, who has forgotten more football than we will probably ever know, can verify this according to his post game statements)

why 1 simple remark of mine about kickers turns into a pro brady rant, i will never figure out. (im just saying that, i already know why)

no, all im saying is that manning probably feels good to be rid of "the idiot kicker" and is enjoying some of the same surrounding support brady has always been blessed with.

we saw what the patriots were before they got brady (a 5-11 team, even with 'chick as the coach) and we all know what the colts were before p. manning arrived (nothing). it is fair to say neither team would be squat if they didnt have their (potential) hall of fame quarterbacks.

instead of studying gamefilm of actual football games, i think the ravens studied WWE matches, Boxing, and emerils application of "hot sauce".

their bravado and machismo got the best of them and i think they wanted to "out porter" joey porter. they thought the game could be won with their mouths and intimidation, and if they kept hitting and trying to hurt the colts they would win. there is more to football than being a hitting match and the ravens d forgot this. and when it comes to "brains vs. brawn" you gotta put your money on the colts over the ravens every time.

the ravens definitely were hitting hard. in fact they were trying to hit SO hard they forgot to play fundamentally sound football. they were distracted by their own hype. just listen to ray lewis' pre game press conference for proof.
