I am so excited about coming back," the 37-year-old quarterback said Friday on the Web site of the Sun Herald in Biloxi, Miss. "We have a good nucleus of young players. We were 8-8 last year, and that's encouraging."...

The news came as a surprise to Packers CEO Bob Harlan.

"I hadn't heard it, and I hadn't seen the Biloxi paper -- not that I read the Biloxi paper every day," Harlan told The Associated Press on Friday.

Favre treats playing QB for the Packers like a lifetime Supreme Court appointment. Must be some record he wants to break - I bet the Packers are thrilled they blew a #1 pick on a QB several years ago.

I'm shocked that he is returning. I guess he still has time left in him.

I have a feeling that randy moss is going to get traded to the packers this offseason. I'm sure brett favre told ted thompson that they need to acquire a couple big names this offseason.

Favre is 37 years old. I really am shocked, as well, that he is returning for yet another season, but I wish him good luck. He's one of the toughest and grittiest players out there - ya gotta love him.

The Packers do need another QB - Rodgers is not the answer and the Packers will force Brett to retire after this year for sure if he doesn't decide to on his own...IMO, they should let him play as long as he wants to - what else do they have going for them rigth now? I am getting a little tired of the annual Brett Favre farewell tour- going on it's fourth year now - this guy must hang out with Barbara Streisand and Cher ...

Well then he needs to stop crying like a priss at the end of every season then. Because this year I felt sympothy for him, and thought it was his last...now it's just getting annoying

"Brett Farve is the Brett Farve of football!" -Frank Caliendo imitating Madden

I'm glad that he's coming back for another season. For the record, Rich Gannon played for 18 seasons so it's not unheard of (not that I'm comparing Gannon to Farve). I don't think it's out of the question for the Packers to make the playoffs next year.

Hmmmmm Brett Favre comming back is pretty nice. He wants to win the lombardi trophy before he jumps ship. I thought he was gunna do it the season his old man died. I guess he wants to finish the job.
