steelers rarely make a splash in free agency, but this is the type of move they DO make. a relatively unknown player, who will come at a great price and is ready to take his career to the next level. i cant remember him on the field but he had 6 sacks last season (probably as a situational rusher).
i was listening to randy cross talk about him. going into his 7th year he is 6'2" and 250 (small for a de in the 3-4) and his specialty is his quickness and ability to get around the tackle and to the qb. hes off many teams radar now, but as they look at tape of him and the price he will come at, he could be looked at as a bargain with tons of upside by quite a few teams.
he would be a perfect conversion to a lb in the 3-4 or a hybrid player in the type of hybrid defense we may employ next season.

I am interested to see if Tomlin hits the free agent market bringing a few in. There is some bargains out there. If I based this idea off of the experience he backed himself up in a coaching staff. I would say we will bring in one or two players. But I am not sure in fact what will happen. Or if Colbert will be in fact getting the bigger nod on these decisions. Regardless it will be worth watching for sure.
As far as JT, well with our schemes changing anything is possible. I will say how we are set up is for bringing in his types over the high priced overrated house hold names.

Good find Tony...interesting as to what direction we will go. I dont know enough about him to have a qualified opinion as to how well he can make the transition to 3-4..or if he will have a chance to go to our team based on salary implications.
But I love the size and the fact that some sites say that he is quick and able to cover.

I like this idea, alittle more speed on the outside will be helpful. We need more pressure on the QB's this year and this guy sounds like he could do that. What are the odds the Eagles will let him go?

What are the odds the Eagles will let him go?he couldve been the back up to j. kearse, im not sure. (both were drafted in tennessee so it makes sense). im thinking if he has been a back up or roll player, the eagles probably wont have room to pay him more once kearse returns to the line-up.

oh well, the eagles did what the eagles do so well and signed juqua to a 5 year deal. he couldve easilly came in and replaced porter at a bargain price (probably half of what porter will get with his next team).

Do you realize that you mention Porter in this thread at your own risk of being banned for stepping outside a official porter related thread? Man you are a rebel Tony.:sofunny:
