Jaguars | Leftwich named starter
Thu, 22 Feb 2007 15:56:44 -0800
Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio has named QB Byron Leftwich the team's starting quarterback for the 2007 season. "There isn't going to be any kind of open competition in training camp. Byron will go to camp No. 1 and we expect him to be the starter. As an organization, we've evaluated it from every angle and we feel that it's the best thing for us," Del Rio said.

Del Rio is a great guy and a pretty darn good coach, but he is trying
to get fired in Jacksonville I guess...

Who knows what he's doing. I agree he is a good coach, and we will see what happens during the season. Although I think it's alittle early to deem Leftwich the starter before seeing what you have among your other talents for that postition.

I think Leftwich should get it either way, but he should've waited a little longer to announce it, in my opinion.

Interesting.....but it is one less distraction going into training camp for them.
