This is kind of a surprise - I guess there were no potential trade partners looking for a solid starting RB.

I wonder if the Texans or Browns could be interested in this guy...

Baltimore Ravens waived running back Jamal Lewis, the team's all-time leading rusher (7,801 yards) and 2000's No. 1 draft pick (fifth overall), on Wednesday.

"We are involved in negotiations with [Lewis], and there has been good dialogue. Jamal has been a significant contributor to us in the last seven seasons. It's our hope to have him back with the Ravens," Ravens GM and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome said in a statement.

Lewis was named Offensive Player of the Year in 2003 when he rushed for 2,066 yards, the second most in NFL history. He rushed for 1,132 yards in 2006.

Wow, does anyone know who is not the number 1 running back on the ravens roster?

It would be pretty sweet pay back if we sighned him and got the power back we so despertly needed last year. Still i doubt it.

Their loss is our gain boys

There is absolutely no way that Lewis will sign with any team not willing to offer him the starters position - that includes the Steelers.

Lewis is washed up - the only hole he could fill on the Steelers is modeling the Duce Staley line of sideline apparel

There is a zero chance the Steelers sign this guy. We quickly cut crackheads, not overpay them when they are in the twilight of their career...

He's worn down and a cocaine dealer,I don't want him anywhere enar this team unless our defense is using him as a tackling dummy in games.

So...good job parting ways with Chester Taylor last year, Baltimore.

I dont see Baltimore winning that many games in 2007 with the modified version of the "dink n dunk" offense and no running game. McNair may be retired in pre-season.

Makes sense...if you are a convicted coke dealer, there are only a handful of teams that want you:

Baltimore
Oakland
Dallas
Cincinnati

J. Lewis is not resigned as of yet there trying to get him back for a 1 year 2mil deal. If I was J. Lewis I would shop around. They cut him so they did not have to pay him the 5 mil bonus and 5 mill base salary. He will be 27 in what august I believe. So basically instead of getting paid 10mil this year they cut him down to 2 mil if he resigns.. I do not think I would resign getting the boot like that.

Eh, he ended up where he was wanted.

Another back that I want the Eagles to look into. Younger, and a power back. His off the field issues are only a small concern, that stuff happened while he was in college.
