St Pierre is a good guy to keep as a 3rd string, I hope we never have to use him, but after last year...

It's a one year deal for 800k. What else would you have them do? After what happened last year with Ben and CBs history with injury, there is NO WAY they go to camp with just 2 QBs. With that said; Who do you sign if he's released? Don't say the draft. They wasted a pick last year on a guy they thought would supplant Pierre. This is the right move in my opinion. Pierre has a repore with the WRs and although the O playbook will be different, he will be better adept at learning it than say a rookie or a free agent QB. Any free agent QB worth signing would cost more than 800K. Besides, if another team matches the offer the Steelers get a 5th rd pick for him.

This is all just my opinion of course...........

Go Burgh!

Good points.. Pierre knows the Steelers players and even though
he may have to learn a new system he is ahead of any free agent QB that we could pick up at his price.

It was the right move so that we don't lose him off the practice squad again. You need three QB's, and yes noone wants to see the 3rd QB play. We probably won't go after a QB in the draft. We need those picks for other positions.

you have to look at it in the sense that he has been around the steelers orgainization for a few years so he knows our offense and if we needed him to play next season he would be better that a guy like tim rattay or someone.

LOL...it is! Let it be known that the term was coined here!

glad you enjoyed that...thats my one good turn of phrase for the year...the rest will be blithering idiocy...

Just read that "Duce"ing a roster spot...excellent work!

So the question is, once training camp is over, will the Steelers carry 3 QBs on the 53 man roster? If not, and they place St. Pierre back on the practice squad-does he still get the $800k??

it s my understanding, he has too many years of service to even be placed on the PS:

• Practice squad rules: Teams can have a maximum of eight players on the practice squad. The limit was increased by three in 2004. Players credited with two or more NFL seasons are ineligible. There is no restriction for age or last season in college.

so he would have to stay on the roster and never play, thereby duceing a roster spot
