Another nice move by the Bronco's this offseason, although im pretty sure that their blocking doesn't require even more of an upgrade?!

I thought Graham would be Seattle bound, but Denver outbid them for his services.

It will be interesting to see if he is used as more of a pass catching weapon with a relatively new QB leading the team.

After losing defensive end Patrick Kerney to the Seattle Seahawks in a bidding war, the Denver Broncos weren't going to be outdone.

The Broncos outbid the Seahawks for Patriots tight end Daniel Graham in a negotiation that went well into Tuesday night. Graham ended up with a five-year, $30 million deal from the Broncos that included $15 million in guarantees.

As negotiations drew to a close, Graham was torn as to which team was best for him. The idea of getting back to Colorado appealed to him. He went to high school in Denver and attended the University of Colorado. But the Seahawks situation was also appealing. They wanted to draft him in the first round in 2002.

Graham's father, Tom, played for the Broncos from 1972-74.

Graham's agent, Tom Mills, didn't shop the offers of either team but in the end he needed to see where the numbers would go. The Broncos stepped up at the end by offering the most dollars and the most guarantees. Graham took the Broncos deal.

The former first-round choice of the Patriots was considered the top tight end on the free agent market.

Thats a good pick up for them. I was hoping the Raiders could sign him, but I knew that was a long shot, at best. We didn't get Kelly either... looks like we're stuck with stone hands Anderson.

what a waste of money and stupid move on denvers part. graham is a good role player and #2 TE. he will help in their running game and blocking for cutler, but there is no way he should even be allowed to walk into the same bank as gates or gonzales.

a smart team would take a look at the deals given to fuaria, patten, givens, and branch, and what they produced once they left new england, and take a pass.

holy cow. this means randy mcmichaels agent is gonna be asking for about $8 mil/ year and when heath miller is a free agent he will be the 1st TE to ink a $100,000,000 contract! :dang:

$30 million is insane for a TE, though ihe is a really talented player. Looks like the Broncs are looking to win a Super Bowl quick with all these offseason moves.

Looks like the Broncs are looking to win a Super Bowl quick with all these offseason moves.they definitely wanna win a SB quick but theirs and the patriots recent manuevers reek of dan snyder type of desperation. theres locker room chemisty issues that will have to be resolved with all this "new money" moving in.

i think grahams team mates have every reason to expect antonio gates type of production. too bad for graham that he cant deliver.

I think Shanarat is going to be on the hot seat if he doesn't get to the SB this year... thats why all the FA action. Where in the hell are they coming up with all this money?

Where in the hell are they coming up with all this money?i have no idea. its like the redskins. arent they still paying off dead money from the d. sanders, and bruce smith deals? theyve probably given out 20 contracts worth more than 5 mil / year since then and are still fine to sign whoever they want. i dont get it.

(seattles another team who has figured out how to circumvent the cap)

You're right. I was hoping to sign kelly, but that didn't work out either. McMichael will do just fine... if we can sign him.

I think someone needs to look into how Denver is doing this. Their first Superbowl was won while cheating the cap. Not a damn thing was ever done about it. Seems to me that might be the case again.
