Ryan Clarkis taking up cap space, should we cut him already, we do have anthony smith.

Although $1.9 Mil is nothing to scoff at, it is stil relatively cheap, and adds much needed depth.

why is ike taylor, marvel smith, brett keisel, travis kirschke getting outrageous money.

ike taylor has underachieved to be a top paid corner, marvel smith isnt that good at being a tackle, brett keisel has started only 1 season, travis has never started.

ike is fairly cheap as far as starting cb's goes. nate clements just signed for 8yrs/80 mil. the tender for a cb is 7-8 mil/yr.

if you remember when the steelers were the #1 rushing team in the league and winning sb/going 15-1 you will know marvel was part of what was regarded as one of the best lines in the league. that doesnt come cheap.

kirchke can back up any spot on the line, and keisel is going into the 2nd year of his new contract that pays him as a starter (which he now is).

i dont see the problem

:toofunny: Thats a joke ward!!
I dont know what games at the end of last year you were watching but Tyrone Carter in my opinion proved that he is a very
good back up to Troy. He would or could be a starter in alot of cities
around this league. I didnt used to like him, I thought the same thing you are but after seeing the guy play some actual meaningful
games he made an impact in those games. Ryan Clark will be in
Black N Gold this year just for the fact that he has experience that
you can buy, but next year Smith will be our starter and it still
wouldnt suprise me to see him starting this coming
season..

I think Smith is a stud. I honestly think looking at each individual player we have a good defense. I think the biggest problem for the D last year was that we had so many turnovers we spent all of our time on Defense and got burned out. If you look at all of our games, we were in most of our games going into the second half (except maybe Baltimore). Ike Taylor had some embarrassing plays but he is young. He is an outstanding athlete and is physically blessed. If he can just develop as a player I think he can be a great asset. Let's hope we don't have to see Tyrone Carter again. No offense steelers 2006, but that may mean Troy isn't playing.
