Is this not the greatest browser ever!! Down with Internet Explorer and all the spyware !! The latest versions of FF have everything you could ask for..

dowload protection
all the themes you could want
extensions to customize it as little or as much as you want
check it out if you havent already, its way too much to type here.. www.mozilla.org

and the all in one google is amazing.. no more relevant text ads in your searches, images, gmail, or anything!!

I've been using it for over a year and love it. They had me at "Tabbed Browsing." I use that feature every time I open the browser. Go Firefox!!

i'm using aol explorer, i like that you can have different tabs at the top for different sites at one time and you don't have a crap load of stuff on the taskbar. that's probably the only reason i use it.

Yeah tabbed browsing is the bomb.. Im not sure I could live without anymore :D

the new Netscape browser is good too..same preface as FireFox, just a different skin and not quite all the features that FF has.

Good stuff though.

Just downloaded the new Firefox. I like it. It's got a clean look and doesn't have all kinds of clutter. It's definitely better than IE. I usually use Netscape browser because it's safer than IE. I was having trouble getting it to open I used IE for 5 minutes looking for backgrounds and a virus tried to get on my computer. Firefox looks like it may be my new browser. Loads faster than Netscape on my computer.

You can download it for free at www.firefox.com. I just don't bother with my IE anymore. Causes me nothing but trouble.

I like the Firefox browser but you can't attach alot of toolbars to it. Most of them require the IE browser.

Really? Most have now adpoted Firefox. You can use the Google, yahoo, etc. toolbars with Firefox. At this point, there is little Firefox can't handle.

I can't reccomend it enough.

Should save you a good bit of spyware headaches Roethlis. I know everytime I open IE up something starts going wrong.

i don't know about firefox, i'm not liking it. i like aol explorer better, on aol explorer i like on the side it has little tabs that say mail, favorites, etc, and you can click on favorites and it slides open and there is all my favorties already there. i like the tab browsing on here better too, you don't have to click file and then get a new tab on here you just click a little plus looking icon here and it gives you a new tab. also it has an overall better look to it too.

ok i figured out how to change my theme thing, but now i want to take back my comments about not feeling firefox, now that i've used it for more then five min i love it. i have not had one damn pop up since using this around 3 o'clock today. i just opened aol explore to get a site that i had in my favorites and i was bombarded with damn pop up online casino crap. so firefox f'n rules, thanks for recommending this browser

FF is constantly coming out w/ new extensions and toolbars and features. Its definately worth it to check for updates to new features that you are looking for cuz sooner or later they'll be there.

I have to disagree completely with you guys :) Firefox is very very UN-friendly in terms of scripting. I do web development and firefox just doesnt work with certain java scripts. Contrary to what people think, firefox has just as many holes in it as IE.

Mircosoft has holes in software and Operating systems Always does always will. Trash IE and go with FF.

There are a few sites that FF isn't compatible with, so I keep IE around and fire it up every now and then...but for practical, everyday web browsing, FF just blows IE away...

BlitzburghRockCity
09-15-2005, 04:43 PM
Yeah I agree.. I have to keep IE around just for that purpose too..but I normally stick w/ www.avantbrowser.com when I need something more IE compatible, which isnt too often, or the new nutscrape 8.0 browser that lets you view sites using FF, IE, or nutscrape.

FF has a new beta version out now too.

Yup, that was all I was pointing out that from a developer view point, its not 100% compatible like IE is. And SteelersFanInPhilly, you don't think FF has flaws and openings? LOL Right now, its a none fact they they have just as many flaws than all the other browsers.

SteelersfaninPhilly

FF has it's flaws that is for sure. However, I can never understand how a multi-billion dollar company. Can release such flawed software.

I totally agree with you, here. I work in IT at Ford HQ's datacenter and I used to work for a company that built custom servers with Windows, Linux and SCO Unix configurations...every OS has holes, patches, glitches, etc!!!!!!

I hear all this Microsoft bashing from some people in my industry when 90% of the people who have problems don't update their computers with the latest patches or protect themselves with anti-virus & anti-spyware programs.

Firefox AND Linux have just as many issues. The only reason they are considered "safer" then Windows products is that they aren't used by every single home PC owner. If I was a hacker or wanted to write spyware...why wouldn't I write it for the OS and browser that 95% of home users have? If everyone was using Linux in their homes, I guarantee there would be all kinds of issues cropping up as well. At least Microsoft puts out great products, any unbiased and knowledgeable IT pro will tell you that...

That being said, I love Firefox. It is currently faster and less of a resource hog then IE. Plus, it doesn't use ActiveX controls, which is where most of the spyware comes from...

Just my thoughts...

Hammer.

I can't stand using AOL. Give me AIM and Firefox or whatever your browser choice is and your better off in my opinion. You can work on the computer a lot faster that way.

Nice call, Hammer, on the hacking issues. There are a ton of people who simply hate MS, and spend a lot of their time trying to expose weaknesses. Firefox is a very user friendly browser that has no "World Domination" motives at this point, so hackers tend to leave them alone. As they get bigger, the free pass is starting to wear off, but, as a whole, FF is the place to be now.

Good post hammer and I agree with you 100% I just don't share the same opinion that I love firefox, simply from the jscripting issues, I like to use the microsoft Jscripting over Sun's Java script.
