what do you think about tony ugoh?

pittsburghp8baller
04-28-2007, 06:51 PM
the philadelphia eages select kevin kolb from houston

this is a bad move for the eagles because they dont need a qb, and he is definitely not the third best available. A third-forth round talent who flourished in a spread offense with good receivers.

where did u hear that mel kipper; espn. i think the kevin kolb is a good addition for the eagles. he is manly there as a insurance policy for McNabb and if there backups dont cut it. and think about, philly runs the closest thing to the spread offense in the nfl

San Diego got a really good player in Weddle. he is one of the most versitile player he returned kicks and punts, played corner, running back, and safety

eric weddle will make up for the chargers reaching for their wr with their 1st. it will cost them, but thats 1 less rookie they will have to cut in camp.

pittsburghp8baller

thats a lot the chargers gave away for weddle

SteelersTilIDie

the oakland raiders selected zach miller from arizona state, he is a good player for them because of their lack of tight ends and blocking

now that blaylock is gone steelers should pass on a lineman and take their best player on the board. its gotta be jarrett or houston (both will probably be gone when we pick and we end up reching for the 2nd round straight)

Center is the only one Ihave heard of , but he is the top Center in the draft and the Steelers would be lucky to get him this late..

Then why pass on quinn?

i agree...sometimes GM's over think this stuff. if you want a player then get him. quinn only slid because cleveland wanted an OL and the dolphins are high on something. quinn is still the SECOND best qb in this draft - if he's available in the 20's then you deal for him instead of taking some garbage in the second round and waste a pick. makes no sense.

SteelersTilIDie
04-28-2007, 07:15 PM
falcons select chris houston, and it is a good pick in general, but they are set in cornerbacks, with deangelo hall, alan rossum, and jimmy williams. a good insurance pick to add depth to the secondary...overall, a smart pick

tony hipchest
04-28-2007, 07:18 PM
kalil may be the best player on the board when we draft. taking him pisses away one of our picks from last year, our only free agent aquisition, and a high paid back up from 2 years ago.

thats alot to waste. unfortunate we may have to pass on a great player to save face.

on the espn pick by pick breakdown heres what we got

15. Pittsburgh Steelers
The pick: Lawrence Timmons, LB, Florida State
Scouts take: Joey Porter's reign over Pittsburgh ended during the offseason and there is no heir apparent on the roster, so the Steelers are in desperate need of getting an edge rusher that can make an immediate impact. Timmons should be just the man for the job since he has the burst to turn the corner, athletic ability to develop an arsenal of pass rushes and the closing speed to quickly get to the quarterback. He won't make as much of an impact dropping into coverage and defending the run, but he should hold his own when asked to drop into coverage and he should chase plenty of backs down from behind. And if indeed the Steelers transition to a 4-3 defense at some point, Timmons is versatile enough to move to weakside linebacker.

pittsburghp8baller
04-28-2007, 07:50 PM
dont give up on us tradin away faneca. the earliest round we would of gotten would prob be a 3rd maybe 2nd so we could jump up and still get another pick in the second

Atlanta Dan
04-28-2007, 07:50 PM
Starks will not be gone in 08.
He will be good this year......Have faith.
Faneca just pisses me off right now

If he is any good in 2007 he will be beyond the Steelers budget in 2008 - if not he will be gone anyhow since if the Steelers do not lock a player up before the last year of their contract that player is gone

After the Ike Taylor contract I think the Steelers are done paying for upside for awhile.

Woodley Info:

LaMarr Woodley
DE | (6'1", 266, 4.67) | MICHIGAN

Scouts Grade: 84

Flags: (B: BULK/SIZE) Lacks size/bulk for position Selected by: Pittsburgh Steelers
Round: 2
Pick (Overall): 14(46)
View by: Round | Player | NCAA School | Position | NFL Team | Flag | All Ranked Players | NFL Draft History

Strengths: Possesses good bulk for his shorter frame and excellent top-end speed. He is at his best when turned loose up-the-field. Does a good job of finding the ball and quickly disengaging in order to pursue. He never gives up on a play and he displays an outstanding motor. He has improved his strength and did a much better job anchoring when teams ran at him as a senior in 2006. He shows excellent first-step quickness and is extremely disruptive as a pass rusher. He is a powerful tackler with a mean streak. Impact player that always seems to be in on the big play.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal height. Has trouble stacking at the line of scrimmage versus taller, bigger offensive tackles. He has experience dropping into coverage but he's far more effective when turned loose up-the-field. He's a bit stiff in the hips and might not be fluid enough to make the move to linebacker in the NFL. Minor durability issues after missing time in 2005 with forearm injury.

Overall: Woodley played in all 13 games (two starts) at defensive end during his true freshman season in 2003 and finished the year with 23 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks. He then played in 12 games (10 starts) at outside linebacker in 2004, registering 70 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, four sacks, and three forced fumbles. In 2005, Woodley played in 11 games (eight starts) at "rush linebacker" but missed time in three games with a forearm injury. For the year, he recorded 48 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, one fumble recovery, and three forced fumbles. Woodley started all 13 games in 2006 making 36 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, recording 12 sacks, forcing four fumbles, and recovering four fumbles, including one he took 54 yards for a touchdown against Notre Dame (9/16).

Woodley is a 'tweener that played defensive end in a 4-3 scheme and outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme at Michigan. He lacks ideal height and will struggle taking on blocks from bigger offensive tackles as a traditional DE in a 4-3. He also lacks the hip-fluidity to consistently drop in coverage with any regularity as a 3-4 outside linebacker. The key for Woodley is to land with a team that will mask his weaknesses by using him as a one-gap DE. To his credit, Woodley bulked up and became much stronger versus the run in 2006. He also displays the speed, power and vicious mentality it takes to succeed at the next level. Despite his lack of a natural fit, we still think Woodley is worthy of consideration in the bottom-half of Round 2.

i'm hoping that tony pittman (rb, buckeyes) will be on the board for the steelers...would be a productive day if he's available in the 3rd.

i like the idea of getting two guys who can put pressure on the qb defensively...if this team had a glaring weakness last year it was the lack of pressure on the opposing qb - today has gone a long way to help alleviate that problem should these two guys pan out.

i liked tomlin's assessment of the team's problems: turnovers on offense and lack of pressure on defense. that shows me he's watched this team closely on film and he sees exactly what we've witnessed.

none at the skill positions. chad owens is a good receiver for JAX, was injured most of the season. more of a kick returner; was named all-american returner over reggie bush a couple of years ago; but starting this year there could be a lot of talent coming to the mainland from hawaii. there could be up to four maybe five hawaii players taken this year. two already; leonard peters is a safety/linebacker who is a lot like troy (including the hair) but obvisouly not as good; there is also The Nasti Nate Ilaoa at running back who is 250 pound running back who runs a 4.55 40 yard can run you over or blow right by you
