Built the way he is ..and with a timed 4.43 forty...you have to think we may put some fake punts back into our gameplan...or at least it will put that fear into opponants

I'm glad someone youtubed that... I was trying to find it the other day, because the stream off of Baylor's website was choppy and I was trying to show my roommate.

So thanks if you put that up... straight to the favorites bin

I was almost in question why we went and got a punter, but after reading about, and watching this real, I see why we got him.

put him on the offensive line... now that is the kind of protection Ben needs. Maybe he can slam Ray Lewis.:wink02:

knowing only that he was a punter made me angry we traded up, but after reading this article and watching that video this could change the field position in our favor CONSISTANTLY and with the depth we added on D and another possible big red zone threat on O, i am starting to see the light on this draft as being a good one. have the faith!

Avg 45yds per or more and pin the ball inside the 20 when you're suppose to and I don't care if you look like Dr Doolittle......

Just do his job.....could care less if he makes one tackle.

Maybe Tomlin will bring back the Oklahoma drill. Gardocki v Sepulveda who wins that one? Hell, Timmons v Sepulveda might be a fight.

With you completely. I still like the signing.

With you completely. I still like the signing.what i like about the pick, is that they showed the balls to move up and snag their target (did anyone really doubt they were gonna take one of the top 2 punters with their 4th or 5th pick?)

last year they targeted the top wr. they made it happen. the year before that they wanted the top TE and lucked out that they didnt have to manuver to make it happen. 2 years prior to that they did what they had to do, to get the top rated safety.

it is reassuring to know if they really wanted michael bush (or any other player for that matter) they will make it happen. it also makes me feel better about the TE pick in the 3rd. they rarely miss when they take one of the top 1 or 2 highest rated players on their board at a particular position.

Agreed completely - I hope he doesn't have to make tackles, because if he does, our kick coverage team isn't doing its job (again).

I love this pick and I thought all along that the Steelers must get a good young punter and they did the right thing getting this guy. Yeh, I hope that he hasnt got to make tackles but its nice to know that we have a punter that is Not a Sissy that will just try to trip someone as they run by them..:wink02:

thats exactly the point though. it may kind of be like having a 12th man on special teams since he is such a good athlete so he will be in the mix at times with the rest of the team making the tackles because we arent going to be at the 50 every time punting to inside the 20.

Not yet... I want Gardocki in camp... even this year on the team. Why? Cause I want him to teach our new punter the secret to not having punts blocked!!!

:jawdrop: give a million bucks to a punting coach!?!?!?! even the vet minimum is $850,000! our qb coach doesnt even make that much money!

how bout our special team coach and players just do their jobs and block the players rushing our rookie.

we need all the cap help we can get. plus we need all the roster spots we can get.

Well, what it tells me is that there are lots of linebackers competing for spots in the NFL...great punters, not so much...

Going on the theory that it's easier to be a big fish in a small pond, once Daniel discovered he had, as a columnist recently put it, "the howitzer that is his left leg," and yet could retain the linebacking ability and therefore be a constant threat to tackle, maybe he figured why not become a monster punter (OK, somewhat of an oxymoron, I'll give you that) with an unexpected added dimension? He could be a run of the mill linebacker among a sea of linebackers and maybe get drafted, maybe not....or have a much better shot as a punter who looks and acts like a linebacker, albeit for less money and a much lower draft position than a future starting linebacker.

For a coach like Mike "Run & Hit" Tomlin, who vows that special teams will be fully 1/3 of the team, this guy was probably glowing like a diamond in a jewelry store window when they got to the fourth round. Looks like Coach is ready to walk the talk re: special teams with this pick.

I love it, for one he is left footed so expect some more fumbles and two he came into college as a linebacker. Its like having an extra special teams player out there, no more "all he has to get by is the punter". This guy is gonna lay some people out. LETS GO STEELERS

tony hipchest
05-10-2007, 02:47 PM
hopefully tomlin will try him for kickoffs too. one thing we definitely lack is alot of touchbacks. he has not been talked to about it but said he was up for it if thats what the coach wants.

LOL.. The Kick Returner who ever it is will have to think before he goes heads up with this punter.. Far as Gardocki he will be cut after 6-1.
