yeah yeah this little tidbit came from PFT but how can one not laugh at the stupidity of THIS guy.

MISADVENTURES IN E-MAIL

A league source tells us that an assistant coach with an NFL team attempted on Friday to forward a pornographic e-mail.

If his goal was to send it to every General Manager in the league, he was successful. :toofunny:

The list also included their secretaries. Oh, and the Comissioner got it, too. :toofunny:

We know who the coach is, but we're not going to reveal the name until we get confirmation from one more source as to the coach's identity.

Said the source: "I'm really shocked it hasn't hit the papers. Someone is doing a great job covering it up. But the whole league knows about it."

Who says the offseason gets boring after the draft?

I would guess it's the Bengals.

Could be anyone, I guess.

Maybe it was just one of those hiliarious pieces of 'pornography' (my guess is we'll find that is a slightly exaggerted description of the content in question) that you just have to 'send to all'?

After the media brouhaha over the Emails sent to Rich Eisen, is there any reason that PFT is the only media outlet that's picked this up? Possibly because it's complete bullshit, maybe?

A PFT-only "story" is the gospel truth, yet, the "Chris Henry failed piss test" story reported by multiple credible sources is bad information:

Its possible that this scenario has been based upon bad information.

One test has come back as negative (which I understand to mean 'good') and the results of the second are still pending.

http://www.local12.com/content/breaking_news/story.aspx?content_id=5995f0b6-1474-4cd4-8375-08a16050665d

It'll be interesting to hear how someone has short cicuited the process and has got their hands on this info - even before the Bengals have.

Either that, or it simply a false report based on the misunderstanding between what a 'negative' and a 'positive' test are.

Gotta love the hypocrisy!

its no suprise their fans whould attempt to take shots at the almighty steelers. lets hope no members of the steelers coaching staff take it as far as to actually start breaking up households.

Ha ha.

Okay, im guilty of having a laugh at a guy who is 'clever enough to teach Steleers footballers' but too dumb to know how to work email.

As far as PFT goes, i'll eat my hat if this turns out to be false - this one has way too many checkable sources (every HC in the NFL for a start :sofunny:).

I fully expect this to gradually leak through to other sources soon enough.

If this was the Patriots, you guys would be doing the same thing :wink02:

Dude, it's made up. Isn't it kinda fishy that PFT, which isn't exactly the most truthful source of information is the only "media" source reporting it? I think it's quite instructive when people cite PFT in these forums and usually preface themselves by saying "I know this is from PFT, but...." This Email supposedly went to every employee of every front office in the league, yet there hasn't been so much as a secretary or admin assistant that hasn't leaked the information to ESPN or SI or Fox Sports? I think folks are giving the NFL a little too much credit here as far as their ability to keep something like this completely under wraps if it really were true. If this so-called "story" is reported by a LEGITIMATE media outlet, then I'll eat crow about it, but until then, I call bullshit. I think the folks at PFT need to familiarize themselves with the meanings of the words "libel" and "slander" for their own good as well.

No offense, but I gotta laugh at someone who accepts this "story" as the truth from the same "bastion of journalistic integrity" that has given the world such candid shots as this:

If this was the Patriots, you guys would be doing the same thing :wink02:you wear an asshat right? :chuckle: what is amusing is not the story itself  but watching you gleefully rub your hands together in anticipation as you "expect" this story to leak to major news and media outlets.

you seem as if you "fully expect" this story to be broken by tom brokaw on the NBC Nightly News. pictures of zeirlien at his desk, with his hand draped across his brow, as the feds raid his office and seize his computer will be splashed across the USA Today, and all sports websites. jay leno and david letterman will have running jokes in their monologue for weeks. roger goodell will hold a press conference and urge the rooneys to fire tomlin for such a blunder and threaten to levy fines against the team. :sofunny:

so as you eagerly wait, just remember... it is a non story and nobody cares. the story has already leaked to the only "media" outlet that cares enough to run with it- PFT, which is the internet football fans version of the "Enquirer" or other tabloid smut.

the lions position coach driving through taco bell in this birthday suit was funny. the congressman soliciting 16 year old boy scribes via e-mail was shocking. this is neither.

its PFT's job to make sure a few hundered fans get their jollies by reading it, and that sense the story has broke and their job is done. :jerkit:

"man watches porn, tonight at 8:00" :toofunny: i cant wait for the Dateline and 60 Minutes special on this. maybe VH1 will do a True Hollywood Stories episode featuring a coach nobody even knows. i "fully expect" a john bobbitt or joey butafuoco cult following for mr. zerlein.

I think "fabricated by" would be more appropriate verbiage here. If there was anything to this story, it would be splashed across the pages of every sports outlet in existence. Proof? The Rich Eisen Emails a couple of weeks back, for instance. Followed in quick succession by a presser held by Zeirlein to profusely apologize for everything.

C'mon, all those pictures are blatantly made up - thats why they have PFT emblazoned across the bottom.

If you look in their back catalogue of pictures you'll find ones like this.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h218/n_mckeown/VickShoes.jpg

Topical, fake/jokey pictures.

Its in vogue to critcise everything that come sfrom PFT but I maintain they have a very good success rate - the Bradshaw headline you alluded to in a different post - was something along the lines of 'Bradshaw dead?' - sure its sensationalist but at no point did it definitively state that Bradshaw was definitely dead.

When the real news filtered through they printed it.

This Steelers coach story (while more humurous than anything else) is a statement of fact - the guy who runs the site is a lawyer - so think they understand the legal implications of slander.

It still doesn't explain why no other media outlet picked it up, does it? And I'm sorry, this is the kind of thing that would get major airplay and get beaten to death by the mainstream media if it were true. I'll believe it when I hear it from another source, and not before.

rich eisen has been in sports media for a long time and has a very recognizable face. the story of the babe in the bikini, and the wife intercepting the photos, and the implied infidelity is a way better story than an old man who surfs porn. plus it could help on network to try and discredit a broadcaster from another network (geraldo rivera).

this story sucks, nobody will even pick it up.

This is the last thing I'm saying about the matter, but it seems to me gossip is a bit different from irrefutable fact. And just because some joker from a website says he has "inside connections" to the NFL, doesn't mean I'm gonna believe him. And to say the guy running the site is a lawyer is laughable - talk about a person I'm LEAST likely to believe.

Being a lawyer doesn't mean he's familar with the punishments that come with libel. There are many different types of lawyers, not all of thim are criminal defense and prosecution.

Ya thanks WySilv - they have indeed....despite some of our more cynical members saying it would never appear in another media outlet :toofunny:

The Steelers confirmed yesterday that one of their employees sent an "inappropriate e-mail" message from the club office to "unintended recipients" last week, violating club and NFL policy.

ProFootballTalk.com, an online blog written by Mike Florio, first reported that Steelers line coach Larry Zierlein inadvertently forwarded an e-mail he received from Doug Whaley, the Steelers' pro personnel coordinator, to multiple high-level team employees and their secretaries throughout the NFL, including commissioner Roger Goodell.

Whaley, according to Florio, received the pornographic video from someone outside the Steelers' organization and forwarded it to others, including Zierlein, who then sent it along to more e-mail addresses than he apparently intended to last Friday.

The Steelers' statement, issued by spokesman Dave Lockett, did not identify the club employee in question but did acknowledge that "The sending of inappropriate e - mail messages is against club and league policy, and the sender has been warned about the policy violation. The sender has issued an apology to all of the recipients."

Still....maybe we should wait for it to go national before we believe it :wink02:

i guess clinton portis opening his mouth in defense of vick was considered a bigger story than zeirlien. but once the portis hubub died down the guys on Pardon the Interuption brought up the story and said it was a non story ( they just made jokes about it). also sirius radio mentionned it in their "2 minute drill" commercial break, quick news update.

other than that, i havent seen anyone run with the (non) story. which is good, tomlin doesnt need to worry about an old coach who has only been in the nfl for 5 years. im sure a simple warning from the rooneys is enough to make sure this [spankin] monkey business doesnt ever happen again
