Oh dear, oh dear Steeler fans - this make take some beating (pardon the pun).

PFT has just outed Steelers OL coach Larry Zierlein as the guy who forwarded a video of 'very hardcore' nature to all the NFL personnel (including various secretaries).

Apparently, Doug Whaley (director of personnel) was the guy who passed it on to Zierlein - only it looks like he had the common sense to not click the 'send to all' button.

Freakin' hilarious - I wonder if the high and mighty Steelers FO (the moral compass of the NFL) will take any sort of discilinary action - even if they don't the explanations are going to be pure gold.

Im sure plenty will pull the old 'PFT talk BS' stuff - but this will be confirmed by more than one media outlet over the next day or so.

And according to PFT, Bradshaw's dead. Don't mean squat to me until a legit source confirms it.

No "crumb of comfort" about it - PFT has been proven to be completely unreliable NUMEROUS times. I believe every headline I see on the National Enquirer too. Just a "smokescreen," I'm guessin'.

for some wierd reason, when i first read the "guess the coach" thread, he is who came to mind. isnt he the old timer we got?

Oh dear, oh dear Steeler fans - this make take some beating (pardon the pun).

despite the melodrama, looking at or forwarding porn is not illegal. this will be about as big a black eye on the franchise as:

-porters pit bulls eating a horse
-our team docter and roids
-our player running from cops on a motorcycle

non issue, non story. there are bigger fish to fry. im sure belichick and pioli are still viewing the "forward" :jerkit:

This whole thing reminds me somehow of that Monty Python skit, you know the one:

"Is, uh,... Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"

Monty Python dialog (http://www.jumpstation.ca/recroom/comedy/python/nudge.html)

The level of prurience in this country never ceases to amaze me. Porn isn't the biggest business on the internet because of a few dozen, or even a few thousand, pervs. The faux pas isn't the porn, it's the accidental clicking on "send all", bringing it into the everyday business world. A social error.

I'm really finding it ironic that the man who made excuses for the head coach of his favorite football team for sleeping with another man's wife to now rip on a Steelers assistant for something like sending a video. I mean your hypocrisy really knows no bounds does it? I guess that's just something I need to get used to from the British. The "we're always right and you're always wrong" routine really does get old after a while.

The problem, as I remember it, was not that it was sent to other coaches. it was that it was also sent to females. In any work enviroment, that is considered sexual harrasment. That is the what the problem is.

And it will be dealt with unlike in the Patriots organization where Slippery Bob just pays off everyone so they're happy.

What a bunch of hooey. Those same females more than likely forwarded it on to both their male and female friends. I'm sick and tired of women crying foul in situations like this. I've worked in enough offices to see clearly that women, not men, are usually the aggressors who can dish it out quite handily but can't take it in return.

Who gives a rat's a$$ if the guy viewed and then forwarded porn either by choice or by error? Most normal sexually and emotionally healthy people of both sexes have done the same thing at some time in their lives and if they say they haven't, I call bullsh it.

You're right, of course, but you know that the media and many opposing fans will try to make it out to be more than it is. It was an embarrassing mistake, and should be treated as such.

And just so we can get it out of the way now for any and all trolls who may show up in the future...

Viewing and sending porn IS NOT EQUAL TO:

-- domestic/spousal abuse
-- drunken driving
-- weapons charges
-- possession/using illegal drugs
-- rape
-- murder

So don't even go there.

LOL, what it is is that Nigel is now free to tweak as he sees fit! Enjoy the banter and don't take it too seriously, or he'll tweak even more. It's just a role he takes, and everyone can stand a little deflation occasionally.

In the end, the coach is a Steeler and we forgive and protect our own. Nothing wrong with that, it's something to be proud of IMO. Let LITP poke. It will be our turn to poke him someday and then we can be merciless. 'Course we would have been anyhow, right LITP?

And he sits there thinking, "Now which is it that I click on to send this? Forward to... who... what's his email address... should I click on 'address book'? Yeah, that's it!"

And BOOM! An internet email porn wave is born!

Steelers warn staffers who sent off-color e-mail

Tuesday, May 22, 2007
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Steelers confirmed yesterday that one of their employees sent an "inappropriate e-mail" message from the club office to "unintended recipients" last week, violating club and NFL policy.

ProFootballTalk.com, an online blog written by Mike Florio, first reported that Steelers line coach Larry Zierlein inadvertently forwarded an e-mail he received from Doug Whaley, the Steelers' pro personnel coordinator, to multiple high-level team employees and their secretaries throughout the NFL, including commissioner Roger Goodell.

Whaley, according to Florio, received the pornographic video from someone outside the Steelers' organization and forwarded it to others, including Zierlein, who then sent it along to more e-mail addresses than he apparently intended to last Friday.

The Steelers' statement, issued by spokesman Dave Lockett, did not identify the club employee in question but did acknowledge that "The sending of inappropriate e - mail messages is against club and league policy, and the sender has been warned about the policy violation. The sender has issued an apology to all of the recipients."

No other Steelers executive would speak on the matter, Lockett said, and coach Mike Tomlin was unavailable after the team's first voluntary workout of the spring yesterday.

Florio reported Zierlein tried to recall his naughty message several times and then followed with an apology to those to whom he mistakenly delivered it.

Zierlein, 61, was on the field coaching yesterday morning when the Steelers practiced, but the team denied requests to speak to him. Whaley, an Upper St. Clair native who played at Pitt, enters his 10th season in his job with the Steelers. He's attending Blesto Scouting Combine meetings in Florida and was unavailable.

Tomlin hired Zierlein Jan. 27. He has coached football 37 years, the last five in the NFL -- four as the offensive line coach with the Cleveland Browns and last season as the assistant line coach with the Buffalo Bills.

A club source told the Post-Gazette neither is likely to be disciplined over the matter by the team, and Lockett's statement seemed to confirm that.

Goodell's new personal conduct policy announced on April 10 states that "The standard of socially responsible conduct for NFL employees will be higher. Club and league employees will be held to a higher standard than players. Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL will be subject to discipline, even if not criminal in nature."

Although no crime was committed in the Steelers' e-mail caper, Goodell did say while announcing his new policy that "We hold ourselves to higher standards of responsible conduct because of what it means to be part of the National Football League. We have long had policies and programs designed to encourage responsible behavior, and this policy is a further step in ensuring that everyone who is part of the NFL meets that standard."

I see some 64 year old ex-lineman, big stubby crooked fingers, maybe he's been using a computer and email for what, a few months now? And he just now is catching on to how it can be used for dirty pictures, and he gets one in his email... and he laughs, and thinks it's funny enough to forward...

And he sits there thinking, "Now which is it that I click on to send this? Forward to... who... what's his email address... should I click on 'address book'? Yeah, that's it!"

And BOOM! An internet email porn wave is born!

Kinda funny, if you ask me.

Typical sense of humor failure - don't embarass yourself by making sweeping racist comments about 'the British'.

Though of course, you no doubt know plenty of us 'Brits' right? :sofunny:

Glad to see some Steeler fans (and I do mean only some) are so easily burnt in the furnace they have to drag this down to a personal level at the first opportunity. :sofunny:

We owe our lives to a joint venture with the Brit's. Read the battle of Britain. They handed the Germans (as many say) their first major defeat in WWII. My father was in Europe in WWII in air support & he told me the Brit's stood fast & handled their load whereas others the "F" dropped their bombs early and flew home. Again LITP, I am proud to have you as a member & a friend. Ooops, sorry to change subject.

In the real world... As I always say, if the Brits and the Israeli's are on our side... well... the only thing that could stop us is us.

I might have...ummmmm...vacation booked...or something...you know.... LOL

I'll be here to take my lumps if the Patriots lose, no fear.

I never questioned the fear factor. And it's good to see a man willing to take his lumps.
