mushmouth strikes again

It looks like head coach Marvin Lewis is going to play a starring role on SportsCenter for the next 24 hours because ESPN?s Bob Holtzman started his Friday news conference right away with the perception question because of the off-field problems, and Lewis showed his strategy quickly.

?I?m not sure what off-field problems you?re speaking of,? said Lewis and leaped when asked about the 14 arrests since December of 2005.

?That wouldn?t be fair,? Lewis said. ?Is there a guy in this locker room who has been arrested this year? So let?s move forward.?

Only cornerback Johnathan Joseph on a marijuana possession charge in January. Linebacker A.J. Nicholson was cut last month hours after he pleaded not guilty to domestic violence.

?I don?t hear it. I don?t hear from people that really matter,? said Lewis of the criticism. ?What everybody says to me is they?re very pleased with the direction with what needs to be done. It?s unfortunate that a year ago we had a number of those things happen. Particularly the one player (Chris Henry), but he?s paid a severe, severe price for that. Other than that, I think we prefer just to look forward and look at all the positives because all those things that mar the perception, I think there have been more positives.?

hey marvin. its june. the "arrest season" hasnt even begun. :sofunny:

It's to the point now where even Bungle fans have to be embarrassed, and we all know they will apologize for anything and everything as long as they win a few games and "beat those damn Steelers!" :coffee: Marvin Lewis is a joke, and has made a mockery of his title of head coach. I'd say he should be ashamed of himself, but he isn't - or at least sure as hell hasn't shown it.

I'm down with what you said in another thread, Tone - I also hope the Bungles keep this buffoon around for another 20 years, so they're guaranteed to continue to suck.

Ha.

Poor old Marvin - not many guys can pull off the feat of defending the indefensible..... and he certainly isn't one of them.

There must be Bengal fans out there expressing genuine worry at the direction of the franchise - the reputation they have gained over the last couple of years will live on for decades.

Its not as if this 'short-cut to greatness' policy has even borne any fruit yet - not even an AFCCG appearance to show for their trouble!

Goodell needs to get to the 'root' of the problem with bad character players and that means getting Marv into his office on a regular basis to remind him about the league policy on thug behaviour.

This year they made an effort to draft high quality players but they are still young guys who can be swayed by the prevalent locker room 'mood' - if the vets act like punks and get away with it you can bet the young guys wont be far behind.

Like someone posted earlier, I hope they keep this clown around for a while. I doubt he will be. He's one or two sub 500 seasons away from getting the boot.

It seems that there are always that one individual (in Cin-cin's case: 53 individuals) that never "get it." It does not matter what community or profession they belong to either. I still occasionally deal with one here and there that "play the stupid role." They agree with whatever direction you give them, yet seem to forget when it comes time to apply common sense. They play the "I didn't know," or "really?" or "that would've been a good idea."
Lewis is yet another one of those that somehow squeeked through the promotional system only to find that they are victims of their own success. They were never, nor will they ever be at the level of maturity, intelligence, or just plain "grownup-ness" required to fill that rung on the proverbial foodchain.

What is bad news for one team, can sure be good news for another. We will continue to take advantage of Lewis's infatuation with himself and his inability to "be the bad guy" on the Bengals staff.

Marvin should do stand-up. Every time he speaks laughable raw sewage comes out of his mouth.

How funny is it going to be when they get so bad, even the clowns have a better team :toofunny:
