This could probably aside from the Arizona game, be the most anticipated Steeler matchup this season. First, we have Joey P. saying a few words, then we have Mr. Jason Taylor calling our current situation a "mess" in recent SI article. I know it's his opinion and he's entitled to it, but do you think he should've kept it to himself? He needs to to worry about his own damn team, IMO. How would you like it if one of the Steelers came out and called completely unrelated teams like the Niners or Titans a mess? I'm sorry, this just doesn't make any sense to me.

"Mess" would probably be their quarterback situation. If the season started today, at least we'd have all our positions filled.

What's with Taylor, lately? I don't remember him ever being vocal about issues outside the team. First, the beef with performance enhancers and Merriman (thought I agree), then the Steelers' "mess."

Bitter Peezy was probably airing dirty laundry in his new locker room, but Peezy has no idea what's going on here now. He needs to get his own priorities straight since he'll probably be facing a lawsuit from Levi Jones.

That will be a good game, though. They have built a VERY solid front seven, but when its all said and done, I see our offense outperforming theirs.

Talk is cheap, so I'm not giving any credence to anything that comes out of Peezy's or Taylor's mouths. Porter needs to be more concerned with his play between the goalposts instead of flapping his big yap. If last season was any indication of his play coinciding with his mouth, I'd say Joey is in for a long game. Our boys will do their talking on the field :tt02: I agree with Crush here - I believe our offense can totally outperform theirs as it stands at this moment. Wait a minute - what offense? :sofunny:

You have a link to that Jason Taylor article?

I find it hard to imagine a Dolphins player taking a serious shot at the Steelers franchise given their relative success rates of the two teams over the last 20 years.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/michael_silver/05/31/bring.on.weekend/index.html (Page 2 of article, 2nd paragraph):

As Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, a Pittsburgh native who is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, told me Wednesday, "They've got a mess up there. They've got a new coach, players questioning whether he should be there. He's got to find a way to demand some respect. I don't know what to expect, to be honest."

Of course I am taking it with a grain of salt as Michael Silver wrote it and he is a complete douchebag, IMO.

Not a direct link to SI, Nigel, but here is the article written by Michael Sliver of SI as posted on the bigbennews.com site. Why should you be surprised? Many players from other teams, particularly division rivals, as well as their fans, take shots at the Steelers organization, only to end up with :egg: on their faces.

Thanks, Hon

I was surprised because I don't really regard Steelers/Miami that big of a rivalry and i've never really noticed JT badmouthing other franchises before.

Having read it, it seemed like a misjudged comment - im guessing he made the comment awhile back when the HC situation was still pretty unsettled?

And the fact that Jason Taylor is a Pittsburgh native made it a little surprising in my opinion. Eitherway, I have heard Porter call out teams in the past and I wasn't hearing many complaints back then. Players talk.

Nothing to misjudge about it. The article was posted last Thursday and the author makes reference to Taylor making the comment on "Wednesday". Also - Taylor specifically mentions a "new coach". Tuck Faylor. :upyours:

I have to admit I was torqued off when I read about it here as well - as soon as I learned the article was written by Michael Silver, I began to have my doubts whether that is what Taylor actually said at all. Michael Silver is a graduate of the "Skip Bayliss School of Sports Journalism" - yes, IMO, he's that bad.

I'm a King fan myself, so I tend to ignore the likes of Silver and Bayless. Eitherway, if Taylor did in fact make those comments then so be it. That's his opinion. I still respect the guy as a player and person. From all reports he's a classy individual. Although I still find it odd that when Porter opened his mouth while he was sporting the B&G it was passed off as "Awww shucks, it's not a big deal, that's just Joey being Joey. The media needs a story and took his words out of context".

Eitherway, all that matters to me is what happens on November 26.

I agree, 83 - however, I wasn't one of the apologists when he was still sporting B&G either:

Not at all, 83 - I know what you meant, and I agree wholeheartedly. Alot of the same folks that loved it when Joey lipped off (even when it cost the team - example being tossed out of a game during warmups) when he was a Steeler are some of the most vocally against his lipping off now that he's a Dolphin and it's completely hypocritical.

Yes they do.

As a respected elderstateman of the game you would wonder why JT needs to get into that type of stuff now - the Dolphins have enough hurdles this year without pissing the Steelers off!

I always thought Porters stuff was childish - and mostly counterproductive - alot of people point to Jerramy Stevens flop in the SB but he'd been dropping balls for a career way before Joey weighed in with his 2 cents.

I'm looking foward to the Seahawks & I think we play the Patriots, more. Sure this will be interesting, but eh. Those other two seem more appealing.

as long as taylors comments take some heat off of ben for essentially explaining how he grew sick of being treated like a little kid, i guess i dont mind. its not like he said the steelers are "soft" and want to turn football into a thinking mans game. im sure porter is gonna bring some attitude to that defense, and i honestly think its gonna help them, not destroy the current chemistry like some sugges. his team mates have always loved him and i dont think it will be any different in miami...

both teams will be jacked up, with more drama, people will tune in, and the nfl will love it :dollar:

Best post of the thread Tone. 'Trash talk' subtle or otherwise has and always will be part of competition sports. Be it subtle or otherwise,....on record or in the locker room.

But at the end of the day,....it's really only 'fans' whom panties get bunched over it. LOL And as you said,...they'll show up, tune in and the league 'get's that paper' !

So with this in mind,...i don't care enough about what Jason Taylor said to take shots at him or Joey or the Dolphins. The only thing of any importance is that they walk away with an 'L'. Like any other team we play.
