today during the broadcast of yesterdays rain delayed race we learned that Bill France Jr. passed away. he was to nascar what art rooney was to the steelers. the son of nascars founder/owner bill france sr., turned nascar into the marketing giant it is today. from securing major sponsorship deals from madison avenue, to bringing nascar into all of americas homes by securing major network deals, that eventually made viewership 2nd to the nfl.

kudos to FOX who immediately announced the news from the booth, and had great production, showing the flag being lowered to half mast in the middle of the race, and showing a small tribute to his lifes accomlishment. as always DW was a class act and almost moved to tears. he was speechless when they signed off for the season.

The only thing I didn't like (But France may have) was the fact that they had about 10 commercial breaks all around the tribute.

lol. well it was around a caution. it did seem like a contrived short piece that all networks broadcasting races probably had on hand for the day he died.

But he WOULD have liked it, I think. RIP Bill Jr.
