The only thing that can ever be taken 100% serious from PFT is their links. They have this one up today of a hypothetical.

LJ a Long Shot, But Packers Still Watching
Lance Allan

The Packers trading for Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is a long shot...but it's still more than no shot.

Today's TMJ4 Sports Anchor Lance Allan was told by an NFL source that the Packers are keeping a very close eye on the Larry Johnson situation in Kansas City. Especially with Scouts Inc. recently ranking the Packers current backfield of Vernand Morency and Brandon Jackson the worst in the NFL. For Lance's take on bringing LJ to Green Bay, just click here.

Larry Johnson is in the last year of his Chiefs contract. The running back threatening to hold out of training camp, because he wants LaDanian Tomlinson type money, around 60 million dollars.

Kansas City would also want a high draft pick, possibly a first rounder. But the Packers do have plenty of salary cap room. Bottom line, it's close to fantasy, but this could be the big offensive move the Packers are considering.

Unfortunately for Brett Favre it looks like his much needed offensive help will come a little too late as I just can not see him enduring another season after this 2007 campaign. A trade is unlikely, but snagging him if he falls into FA next spring could very much happen considering they have the cap room.

Slow day here on the forum.

If nothing else this entire situation in KC makes me even happier we took 43 over L.J.

I dont see this trade happening. KC has an aging QB and LJ is their brightest star. Maybe if LJ holds out for 10 weaks this trade could be a possibility but I highly doubt it. Theres the possibility that LJ dosnt sign a contract with KC then maybe Green Bay picks him up. And yes it has been a slow day so thanks for giving me something to talk about:thumbsup:

Maybe that will please Favre, KC would be a complete mess without LJ, but I like Favre more so I hope this trade happens

LJ I don't think would go to Green Bay. I really think he wants to go to a contender.

I checked the Chiefs' website for the heck of it and noticed Priest Holmes was still on the roster. Is he going to try to come back from the neck injury this season? He is listed as questionable for '07 season here (last updated in March): Holmes' info page (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1645)

He should just retire.

LJ would never go to GB. As Ive said in previous posts if he leaves KC he will come east. He is an east coast guy. I look for him in either Philly or NY next year.

Holmes is all but retired. From SI.com's Fan Nation section:

Chiefs football fans are extremely reluctant to let go of Priest Holmes.Chiefs fans want a definitive "No, I'm never playing again" statement from Holmes, and they're not going to quit asking me and others about Holmes until they get one. Holmes has no intention of playing tackle football again.

That's probable. If he does come east though, I think that he's better suited outside of Philly and New York.

Thanks, Buzz - I kinda figured as much, but I hadn't heard anything about him myself. I was amazed he was still even on KC's roster. Of course, if he were healthy, I don't think LJ would be making quite the stink over his contract that he has been. :dang:

I thought that I had already heard that he wasnt coming back. Maybe I was just dreaming or something. I really believe that L.J. would put the Packers in position to make a run in the NFC playoffs.

LJ would definatly make the Packers contenders in the weak NFC,however I don't think he's enough to get them into the playoffs. The Panthers,Saints,Cowboys,Eagles,Giants, and possibly the 49ers are all better than the Packers.
