Change is sometimes a good thing. The guess here is that Roethlisberger rides this new style to the Pro Bowl and has a chance to get the Steelers back into Super Bowl contention -- even if the Steelers and a wide-open offense sound about as awkward as Lindsey Lohan and a traffic cop.

You really gotta like the other teams' fans displaying their insight on Ben.

"He had a team carry him"
"He's Average at Best"
"He sucks"

But Phil Rivers (after one year as a starter and before was riding the bench), Vince Young (Kordell Stewart 3.0), and unproven Jay Cutler are better. I get it now. The heck with the Pro Bowl. It's nothing more than a popularity contest. It's credibility was shattered when Kordell Stewart 2.0(Vick) made it in '04.

I hope and pray Ben shuts them up this year.

When a bungal fan pulls that crap on me, I just say, " Oh, ok, I guess we would have been 15-1 and won the Superbowl the following year with Tommy Maddox at quarterback, since obviously Ben had nothing to do with it and the rest of the team did all the work anyway.". That shuts them up.

I would prefer to answer like this...

If the Steelers carried Ben to the 15-1 the first year and the SB the second... Then how horrible is Carson Palmer that the Bengals can't carry him to a SB?

:toofunny: Good one. Better yet, that works for any team that hasn't reached the super bowl. But it is way funnier with Palmer.

I liked the little bit that I saw of Kuhn last year. He's a half step slower than Bettis, but he's still a bruiser. I like the idea of using him as a backup fullback but I think he has the stuff to be the "fence" guy -- the player who can clear holes for Parker, and also the guy who can replace Parker in goal-line or short-yardage situations. Before last season I was really high on Nate Washington after watching him in the '05 playoffs. His ability to get open rivals that of Holmes. If he can work on his hands, he'll be a lock at #3 until Ward retires, and then he'll move up to #2 with no competition. Remember, the Steelers had three guys with more than 600 yards receiving last year, and he was one of them.

Everything I've seen and read regarding Ben this offseason has been positive. Looking at the photos from camp, he has a look of confidence in the pocket this year, instead of the deer-in-headlights look he had most of last season. He's really stepping up to be a leader too, even (according to the photo caption) yelling at the defense for not pulling in what should have been an interception. Even when he makes a mistake, he's using that not just as a chance to learn himself, but to also help the defense improve. One of the truest signs of a good leader is when they selflessly try to help others improve, and he's doing just that. Even getting out and running with the guys on Monday when he was exempt showed that he really wants to be the man in charge of the offense this year.

11-5, maybe 12-4 or as good as 13-3 this season. And it will be because of Ben, not in spite of him.

I like the look I see in Ben's face in all the pics this year.....he looks a little older, a little more mature, and alot more confident. It's really amazing to look back on what he has already accomplished, and what he has been through in a few short years. Especially when you look at the pictures of him on draft day.......who "would've thunk" that goofy looking kid would come to the rescue at the level way he did just a few months later???

Ben needed time and perspective to grow into his greatness.......it just happened to be thrust upon him a little early. I sincerely hope this kid shuts up his critics in a huge way this year! And a trip to the Pro Bowl for Ben would thrill me to pieces!!

I think Ben can't wait to prove what he can do without Cowher pulling in the reigns.

Cowher was a great coach but he was *not* good with quarterbacks. He gave Kordell Stewart free reign of the offense and it got him nowhere...so when they got Ben, a natural QB, he clamped down and didn't give him any control whatsoever. And during his tenure we went through Neil O'Donnell, Tommy Maddox and others who just weren't franchise QBs.
