Pirates will have video tribute to Bonds

Wednesday, August 08, 2007
Dejan Kovacevic, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

PHOENIX -- The Pirates are planning a video tribute to Barry Bonds, Major League Baseball's new home run king, when he and the San Francisco Giants visit PNC Park for a doubleheader Monday.

The tribute, not yet complete, will be shown a few minutes before the second game of the doubleheader, which is a makeup of two games lost to rainouts in April. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5:05 p.m., the second game about a half-hour after completion of the first.

Bonds played for the Pirates in 1986-92 and was a two-time most valuable player before signing with the Giants as a free agent.

Bonds will face the Pirates this weekend in San Francisco for a three-game series.

Oh well, It's a nice gesture, so why not? He passed Aaron and he's the new HR king. The least we can do is show some class and honor with his time with the Pirates...from 16 years ago.

And for anybody who actually cares about Pirate baseball at this point in the season or that a-hole, he will be in the starting lineup during the first game of the Pirates double-header. Yippee.
