Steelers.com will not publish the depth chart until the begining of the season. I'm impatient; so I thought I take a crack at it. Players are ranked from 1,2,3 with 1 being the starter. Players without a Left/Right designation for their position are marked with an X and then a 1,2,3 with 1 being the top backup.

Sorry if this is a repeat of another post.... mods feel free to nuke it if I've duplicated.

Hope this makes sense and adds to the anticipation for seeing our latest 53 men the 2007 Pittsburgh Steelers take the field! HERE WE GO:tt02:

I really like this line-up. We have alot of potential at the RB position. I really hope Spaith works out, he has to.

We really have alot more speed at LB. I think we improved our secondary depth with Gay.

I actually like our O-line, but that's with the thought of being able to hold on to Capizzi on the PS to develop him.

Please tell me there's something about Darnell Stapleton that I haven't seen yet to count on him replacing Mahan if he goes down with an injury.
I trust the organization in their decision making for the most part, but throwing the names Webster, Dawson, Hartings, Mahan, and Stapleton in the same sentence scares me just a bit.
When I watch the Carolina game Sunday, will my worries go away?

Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm a Steelers fan trapped in Indy. Unfortunately I have to wade through all the media coverage of how wonderful the Colts are and don't have the benefit of watching preseason games live. Thanks to the NFL Network, I can finally watch the Carolina game Sunday night.

Anthony Smith should start at FS :tt02:

i dont really agree with this because he plays like troy all over the field which is not what we need. clark is playing center field for us. he is a very smart football player. i LOVE to watch smith making those HUGE hits but can he play deep smart?

i have one adjustment:

FB1 35 Kreider, Dan
FB2 38 Davis, Carey
FB3 Casey "Big Snack" Hampton - Well ok, maybe that is not such a good idea afterall..

Your right on with Clark in the sense I believe he is more cerebral in his approach thus making him possibly a better match with Troy.... But

Smith covers more ground than Clark with his speed and as you stated LAYS THE WOOD!!

Clark starts though I believe. I think Tomlin will go with the vets right now (Cowheresque?) and starts Clark FS, Krieder FB, Townsend CB.

I can't wait to see the impact some of the young guys will have. I believe at some point Russell RB, Davis FB, McFadden CB, Smith FS, Gay CB, Woodley LB and Timmons LB will be called upon to make plays in some capacity and I can't wait to see how they respond.

If we put Big Snack back there he'll take up two spots FB 3&4. He's a wide load.

:tt02: I pretty much agree with your depth charts there bud. I just aint really satisfied with our LB play from the outside positions with Hagans and Harrison just not gettting the job done. I think that it is just a matter of time this season before 1st round draft pick Timmons takes over Harrison's job. Our ILB's are getting kind of old " Farrior especially" and the Steelers have no one to back them up much except for maybe Kreiwalt. I think that our pass rushing LB's are gonna be down this year. I hope that I am wrong I really do, but I dont think that I will be. I think also that Mahan is the man to man the center position for the Steelers for now, but I also think that they need to look more at that position soon as possible.

I'm MOST impressed with Deshea Townsend making #1 again. It's a new coach, and a coach with a DB background. This can't be a fluke, and the guy must really be that good. I'm also a little surprised at Clark over Smith, but time will tell.

Congrats to Gary Russell! This kid has stud potential.
