in talking about todays game he said how mike tomlin trusts and to expect much more from him but he must be careful audiblizing in that crowd noise.

to which boomer quipped "it must be nice for ben to finally have a coach who trusts him".

laughs all around. he seems like hes gonna be great in his new job. the next jimmy johnson perhaps?

He seems really relaxed. Maybe he will stay out of coaching for good, but I still doubt that.

He looks and sounds much better than I expected. Looks like it's the Steeler against the Bengals with him & Boomer trading jabs. Although it's early in his first day I think he's doing a great job. Much better than the Bus in front of the camera.

Who knows? He may find that he enjoys being an analyst - less pressure, as he mentioned. He also said when asked by Dan Marino on returning to the NFL - "not anytime soon, trust me".

I feel sorry for The Chin having to listen to Mush Mouth sitting next to him. :ouch:

Holy shit!!!! Boomer just said that he thinks the Steelers are headed back to the playoffs this season! :jawdrop::tt02:

P.S. I think he and Cowher are going to butt heads at some point.

Did boomer practically say the bungles will suck

No. He argued a bit with Cowher as to their predictions as to the winner of the Bungles/Rats game on MNF and Cowher picked the Rats while of course, Boomer picked the Bungles. Boom Boom actually acted insulted at Cowher's pick. :toofunny::toofunny:

Than he turned around and said that the Bengals will be the biggest disappointment this season. He said the poor defense will put too much pressure on the offense. Especially on the road.

WTH is up with Bill's teeth? Somebody visited the dentist.

looks like Bill may have gotten some veneers in the off season. Wonder if that will curb his spitting.

I thought he was a natural. He definitely showed his football knowledge and he was pretty neutral when it came to the Steelers. I still think he'll be the Browns coach next year, but he is really good on air, too. If I was him I'd stay right where he is.

I though he did an excellent job. I don't think he will be smooching anyone on this set anytime soon.

I was at the game so I didn't get to see Cowher yesterday but I'm very happy to see that there isn't really anyone complaining about him my friend called after the game and said he did a good job and pretty much everything I read here was all positive. Way to go Bill!

I was waiting for Cowher to fire back that his record proves winning on the road in Cincinnati is no big deal (regular season or playoffs) but he unfortnately held off on that.

Bill will do fine on this job (certainly better than his ex-running back is doing on the NBC show) until he returns to coaching, although I am sure the CBS assistants are working on him getting his commets down into smaller sound bites.

I wanted to watch Cowher 's debut but having seen it I will not be changing my practice of ignoring pre-game shows.

opening day with games to break down and tiki is still talking about his book. :dang:

The show I miss is the Sunday night ESPN highlights show that ran after the late game with Berman and Jackson for 20 years.

The NBC show is improved (it had nowhere to go but up) but is still not close to ESPN's show reviewing Sunday's games.

Tiki and Jerome are hopeless.

Tiki and Jerome are hopeless.nfl primetime was a weekend staple for me. it was pure football. i can do without all the added commentary nbc provides. i want pure highlights and 2 people as experienced as tj and boomer to talk about it. hell i could handle it if they threw robin roberts back in the group (maybe that was countdown). while they still break down the games on sportscenter, nothing pisses me off more than a baseball game highlight in between nfl game breakdowns.

on a sidenote, ive heard an interview or 2 shannon sharpe did with cowher on sirius a few years back. they have good chemistry together. i see boomer and cowher trading barbs like terry and jimmy do in fox. of course james brown will be the perfect host. cowher seems much less pompus and more likeable than jimmy. this could be the year they run away with the ratings.

Did anyone hear Cower on ESPN radio or the Jim Rome show last week? He was a total **** for the DirecTv NFL package.

The veneers look wonderful though :P

I actually like Jerome better than Tiki. Tiki just isn't that great, and i'm tired of hearing about his book and drama from his Giants days.
