LAS VEGAS -- Investigators questioned O.J. Simpson about a break-in at a casino hotel room involving sports memorabilia, police said today.

The break-in was reported at the Palace Station casino late Thursday night, police spokesman Jose Montoya said.

Simpson was released and is believed to be in Las Vegas, Montoya said.

"We don't believe he's going anywhere," he said.

Hmmm...They wont let him leave town?

I think he told someone that he was "Absolutely, 100% not guilty."

Oh wait, that was for something else.

From SI.com: Simpson has had to auction off his sports collectibles, including his Heisman Trophy, to pay some of the $33.5 million judgment awarded in the civil trial.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more/09/14/OJ.ap/index.html

OK, so let me get this straight - the scumbag sells this stuff off to help satisfy a legally rendered civil judgment against him, he then breaks into a casino to try to steal it back and now he claims the stuff was stolen from HIM?

O.J. Simpson is a suspect in a theft of sports memorabilia from a hotel room at Palace Station Hotel and Casino, police in Las Vegas said today.

"The investigation is ongoing, and O.J. Simpson is alleged to be the suspect," Las Vegas Police Sgt. John Loretto said by telephone.

The former football star was questioned and released, Loretto said. He was not arrested.

Yale L. Galanter, a Florida-based attorney for Simpson, did not return repeated calls this morning for comment.

The memorabilia were in a hotel room in the casino Thursday night, police spokesman Jose Montoya said. Loretto would not describe the memorabilia, including what sport was involved.

"When they talked to him, Simpson made the comment that he believed the memorabilia was his," the Associated Press quoted Montoya as saying. "We're getting conflicting stories from the two sides."

Police said "associates of Simpson" were also questioned, according to the AP.

Simpson's turmoil comes a day after the family of Ron Goldman published a book about the slayings of Goldman and Simpson's ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. The two were killed in 1994 and Simpson was acquitted of criminal murder charges. He was found liable for their deaths in civil lawsuits.

The book was written by Simpson and originally titled "If I Did It," but after his publishing deals fell through, the Goldman family bought the rights to the book and subsequently published it under the new title "If I Did It: The Confessions of the Killer."

Simpson lives in Florida.

Las Vegas police scheduled a news conference for later today.

The more that comes out on this the more it is looking like a sham. (meaning of sham = Patriots superbowl - oh wait that's another thread) Just another way for OJ to seek out attention. Today is the day the book "I killed my wife and am still looking for the real killer on the golf course" hit the stores.

I heard they caught him red handed on video tape stealing the stuff.
I also heard that Belicheat was doing the recording....... but wasn't really going to use the tape as evidence against OJ!

it must all be a "mistake" :wink02:

Interestingly...

Simpson says he was just getting his stuff back that was stolen.

You know... I bet... for some reason... that he is innocent... (this time).

LAS VEGAS — O.J. Simpson was arrested Sunday on charges related to the armed robbery of Simpson sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room, Las Vegas police said Sunday.

Prosecutors were planning to charge Simpson with two counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and coercion, said Clark County District Attorney David Roger.

A conviction on the most serious charge, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, could bring a sentence of three to 35 years for each count, he said.

"He is facing a lot of time," Roger said.

Simpson was transferred to a detention.

They now have the whole incident on audio tape.....

The actual audio of OJ in rage: http://www.tmz.com/tmz_main_video?titleid=1184669299

LAS VEGAS ? An apparent audiotape of O.J. Simpson's standoff with men he accused of stealing his memorabilia begins with the ex-NFL star demanding, "Don't let nobody out this room. ... Think you can steal my (expletive) and sell it?"

It's too bad OJ didn't go after Sally Field. After witnessing that complete mess at the awards the other night, I'm not seeing the loss to our society. One less Hollywood nut who feels the need to let the country know their political views..........because they are important.

One day she was jumping in the car with Burt Reynolds and the next day she is hopped up on some type of Anna Nicole Smith life soother. Good job honey.

O.J. to surrender Rolex to Fred Goldman

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - O.J. Simpson must hand over a Rolex watch and other assets to satisfy a civil judgment that found him liable for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Any future royalties from a sports video game featuring Simpson also must be delivered to Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, Superior Court Judge Gerald Rosenberg ruled.
Simpson must also surrender any of the disputed memorabilia items recently seized by Las Vegas authorities that are found to be legally his.

The items would then be auctioned by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the money they bring in given to Goldman. His attorney David Cook estimated the watch's value between $5,000 and more than $20,000.

Simpson attorney Ronald Slates said his client had already handed the watch over to him and he planned to give it to Goldman's lawyers Tuesday afternoon. He questioned, however, whether it's a real Rolex.

Know any Rolex watches that sell for 125 bucks?" he asked, adding that's what Simpson told him he paid for it. The lawyer acknowledged, however, that if it is fake, "it's a pretty good copy."

The court order specifies a "Submariner Rolex Watch" that was identified in a photograph.

Slates said Simpson can't hand over the memorabilia that Las Vegas police seized when they arrested him on robbery, kidnapping and other charges last month because those items aren't in his possession.

Cook agreed that was true, but said the judge's order requires that if Simpson ever does acquire the items he says are his he must turn them over. They include footballs, jerseys and other things the former football star says were stolen from him.

Slate said he doesn't represent the company that was paid for marketing the video game Simpson appears in but, in any case, he isn't sure there will ever be any future royalty payments.

In 1995, Simpson was acquitted in a criminal trial of charges that he murdered his ex-wife and Ron Goldman. The 1997 civil judgment resulted from the trial of a lawsuit against Simpson.
