Jeff Fisher will be with the Tennessee Titans for four additional years, according to a report in Monday's Tennessean.

Citing unidentified sources, the newspaper reported that Fisher and the Titans have agreed to an extension through 2011 and would pay him between $5.5 million to $6 million per season.

A team official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the formal announcement had been planned for Monday afternoon, confirmed to The Associated Press the agreement will add four years to Fisher's contract.

Fisher is being paid $5.4 million this season

Surprised it is not a higher number (or apparently even much of a raise) for a good coach, but of course Fisher has not had much success lately.

I assume Belichick's new deal will be much higher than that and will be the number Cowher will target.

Yes he is. And glad he is no longer in our division :wink02:

Excellent coach. …… inches away from having a Super Bowl Ring. I think the Titans will become a force in the AFC and hopefully at least speed bump in the Manning canonization process.

huh? Am I the only one who thinks that a coach who makes the playoffs only 4 times in 12 years doesn't deserve an extension?

I like that they're keeping him, most coaches in today's NFL are fired after just 3 or 5 years because they can't win the big one, yet Fisher has always shown his teams have potential but just can't make it, but someday he will, just like Cowher

I always regarded Cowher and Fisher as peers in terms of success until Cowher had his last burst of winning in 2004-2005 while Fisher was in salary cap hell.

Titans seem to be set up for some success in a few years although they will still have Peyton & Dungy to deal with

the difference between Cowher and Fisher is that Cowher usually won the division and had winning records....

Cowher - 161-99-1 all time

Fisher 110-97 all time

Cowher coached 54 more games and only has 2 more losses....

If you look at other coaches who have been in the league as long as Fisher - Shanahan - Holmgren -Dungy -- all have won a Super Bowl.

That is still successful by the standards of most teams. You can?t just judge what you as an organization do based on the Steelers. Otherwise every team in the league should have 5 rings.
