View Full Version : Seahawk Fans Invade

SteelerManiacXLII

The days of reconing are before us. Although the Stealers have already tainted the NFL with the way they cheated in XL, the mighty Seattle Seahawks finally get a chance to redeem what was taken from us. The Stealers no longer have a fat, overweight, handicapped dumbass at running back for the entire country to pitty. Also, they no longer have that loud mouth bitc# Joey Porter to make shit up to try and get the rest of your weakass defense fired up. THERE WILL BE NO WAY THE STEALERS CAN WIN THIS GAME.

You are about to feel the rath of the smartest coaching staff, the most prolific offense in the NFL, the most savage defense known to man (since 1992 when Cortez Kennedy was defensive player of the year), and the most dedicated fans known to ever support a sports team.

The 12th Man has arrived to give you a taste of greatness!

Hmmm... you are right. Why bring up 2 years ago when I can bring up last year. Last year was such a great year for your teams title defense wasn't it. Lets see here... your QB got hit by a car, your coach quit on you, the Bengals AND Ratbirds prooved they owned you. Lets not forget that the heart of your team left for Miami or the fact that your head coach left you in the dust for Hollywood.

Well, even all that stuff was a year ago. Lets focus on this year. Lil' ben is regressing as QB and is unreliable. You are going to fall to 1-2 to the far superior NFC West. And you only have a win because you squeaked one out against the worst team in the division.

Seattle owns shitsburgh.

No HometownGirly, I don't compare the two. But seeing as how your team won't make it to a Superbowl for a VERY, VERY, VERY long time... regular season is the only chance we will get to beat your a$$ the way it should have been in XL. You won't sniff the post-season until you cut lil Benny loose.

Has someone been taking their bitter pill for the last two years. And yes, while the Steelers were not in the playoffs last year, tell me where was Seattle on Super Bowl Sunday?
And while, as a fan, I can appreciate your enthusiasm for your suckhags, it is important to note a few things. The suckhags stole the 12th fan from a college (that's pathetic in and of itself), your so-called great team is nothing more than a want-a-be AFC pretender like the bungals, your high-powered offense has no clue what it means to face a defense, and finally while you continue to drudge your way through the NFC - real fans know two things are true 1) The day Seattle wins a Super Bowl will be the day Holmgren loses 200 lbs and 2) The Super Bowl winner will be from the AFC.

Now you talk about the most dedicated fans being in Seattle, you must have found a Steelers Fan Club. You see it might be suckhags country where you live but it's STEELERS NATION!!! And that my, suckhag fan, is the reality of the world in which you live and there are two things you can do about it - NOTHING and LIKE IT!

Hey.. trust me, if he is from the Seattle area.. that is about as good as you're going to get.

3. You are a Steeler fan who decided to become a straw man to get your fellow forum mates riled up.

So to clarify...If Walsh comes back to life and coaches Peyton Manning and Jack Lambert while the Cubs baseball team beats us with baseball bats....the Seachickens have a chance to win?

Seahawks invade? Where? When? Here? Does one fan who can't spell really entail an invasion? Or perhaps he means all the Seahawks fans who will be at Heinz Field Sunday. Why, I bet they'll be 200 of them! I actually saw one Seahawks fan once, when I was in college. Other than that, I've only seen them on TV. I assume they have fans, but they COULD actually be computer generated fans like in the new Star Wars movies.

Ya I was wondering this myself. Why did you go through the trouble of lying in your info? Did you think you were going to be banned because you were a Seahawks fan? Or did a .500 season bring out the true fairweather fan in you?

What a clown. The 12th man? Seattle? Really? Nothing more savage than 60,000 plus trying hard not to spill their mocha lattes while they wait in line to check their e-mail during timeouts. Please.

Those Seahawks fans are the most dedicated fans in football. That would probably explain their overwhelming presence at Super Bowl XL, where almost no Steelers fans showed up :shake01:

You're from Denver??? Why don't you be a man an cheer for the Broncos. At least that is an AFC team with some class and history. I could respect you then.

Unlike some teams.

Our fans are EVERYWHERE. The Steelers are a franchise with class and history. Try 5 Super Bowls over 75 seasons. About 20+ Players in the Hall of Fame. A team who has had 3 coaches in pretty much what has seem to be a span of a person's life. World Class ownership. Something that towns like Seattle don't have.

Till the start of the decade, I pretty much can't remember a year in my youth that the Seahawks were worth talking about.

Whats wrong? You guys don't like Goose... ahh thats right, he beat stealer ass for years while he was on that mighty Raven's defense.
http://images.usatoday.com/news/health/photos/2001-01-29-health-siragusa.jpg

WRONG. Fatso played with the Ravens from 1997 until his retirement in 2001. In those 5 seasons, the Steelers beat the Ravens in 8 out of 11 meetings, including a 27-10 stomping in the playoffs, which was the last game of Fatso's career:

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/garyb12001/Steelers-Ravens.jpg

He played with the Colts from 1990-1996, and in the meantime, his Colts lost the 1995 AFCCG to the Steelers. So it's safe to say that Fatso never "kicked any Steelers ass" - in fact, it was quite the opposite.

Alright...

I have to give credit where it is due. In the 80's, Seattle fans were great. They filled the kingdom and made it such a raucous that the league literally had to change the rules. Do any of you remember the noise rule for home teams? That was put in because of Seattle.

Many of them are still great, and never gave up on their team, even through the horrible 90's.

to those of you, I assume like Seagal, I give much credit, and welcome you here.

I can't let that one slide. That is a completely ignorant statement. One would either have to have a severe cognitive or perceptual deficit to believe that. Or else you would have to be deliberatly confabulating to try to come up with a "good one" to help you fit in. If its the former, I'm sorry man. If it the latter, then its just kind of pathetic because it ironically puts you right in the same glass house as the guy who started this thread.

Now I can't let that one slip, hehe.
You do know that the Seahawks won their case against the A&M Faggies, because their suit was frivolous and lacked credibility right?
The reason for this is simple, yes, they had the idea of the 12th man, and they did it first, and made it famous.
BUT, we fly a #12 flag, there is not really any mrention of 12th man per se, it is simply a number that we have retired and that we fly on a flag.
And as the Seahawks are the only professional football team to have officially retired the NUMBER 12 in honor of their fans it is different from the Faggies traditions.
It may seem like a Bill Clinton, "what is, "is" argument, but the difference is that we don't talk about the 12th man, it's more implied, we just hung a flag and retired a number.
Yes we all know what it stands for, but it is somewhat different.
Besides which, they are a college team, we are a professional football team, therefore the idea that we are somehow taking away from what they do...is frivolous at best.
Also I must point out, that there are other franchises in different sports who also do the same thing, whether it's the 13 man in basketball or 10th in baseball.

But whatever, the court case was won by the Seahawks and we will continue to raise the flag with pride, and continue to honor the fans with our retired number...which again is quite different from what the Faggies do.

Actually the Aggies have history and the court system ...and the Seahawks acknowledgment on their side....

A) The origin of the term "12th man" has many legends associated with it, but the first recorded instance of the term being used was to describe E. King Gill and his actions in Dallas on January 2, 1922, at the Dixie Classic, the forerunner of the Cotton Bowl....The Seattle Seahawks came into existence as a team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in 1976 as expansion teams.

B) The term "12th Man" was coined and marketed to represent the Texas Aggie fans after the 1922 Dixie Classic. While intellectual property laws recognize such common law uses in trademark disputes, the official registration of the mark was not filed by Texas A&M (U.S. Reg. No. 1948306) until September of 1990, after passage by Congress of the Federal Dilution Trademark Act of 1995. This law allowed Texas A&M to use potential damage to the trademark through dilution as a justification in its lawsuit against the Seattle Seahawks. In January 2006, Texas A&M filed suit against the Seattle Seahawks to protect the trademark and in May 2006, the dispute was settled out of court. In the agreement, Texas A&M licensed the Seahawks to continue using the phrase "12th Man" in exchange for a licensing fee and public aknowledgement by the NFL franchise as to Texas A&M's ownership of the phrase.

Not sure where you got the information that the Aggies lost their lawsuit...WOW!!...thats just bad data.

I see you want to throw out everything but a decent response to the statements I made.

While your comments about my fellow family members are truly unnecessary, your ideal that we as Steelers fans are delusional is more comical than anything else. You see, before Seattle even knew what having a football team to cheer, the Steelers were winning and changing the face of NFL history.

I'll tell you what - you want to see delusion do two things for me and tell me which one is delusional -

1) Walk into the Seahawks office and tell me how many Super Bowl trophies reside there.

2) Walk into the Steelers office and tell me how many Super Bowl trophies reside there.

While the seahawks may have a complete fanbase in the some-what great northwest, there is a reason they call it STEELERS NATION!!!!!

I find the Steelers attitude to the officiating in XL to be poor sportsmanship and disrespectful to the Seahawks. The vast majority of impartial observers (people without a rooting interest in one of the teams) found the officiating to be one-sided, disruptive to the flow of the game, and a big drawback to their enjoyment. The announcers commented on it. So did alot of media.

Now Seahawks fans are prone to, arguably, put too much of the onus on the officials. Even if you give the Seahawks the Jackson TD and Stevens reception at the 1 (which you can assume Alexander would have punched in) it's hardly a guaranteed 'Hawks victory. Indeed the Seahawks were able to frustrate the Steelers offense all day but couldn't stop the big play. And Seattle also had dropped passes and missed fieldgoals and the critical Hass interception (which, yes, would not have happened if Locklear hadn't been called for holding).

But the Steeler players have never acknowledged that the Seahawks had some tough calls made against them. Or that they could sympathize with the Seahawks' frustration -- having brayed and moaned about the blown Polamalu play in the Colts game. But, no, they call the Seahawks 'whiners'. And that is poor sportsmanship and disrespectful. I hope the Seahawks really put the boots to them on Sunday.

It goes both ways. And I hope the Steelers kick the crap out of them tomorrow and the hatchet finally gets buried.

I'll give you that... it just pisses all of us off that it went down with any kind of contraversy. Whats done is done... You have your one for the thumb (or where ever you shove it :wink02:) and we will get ours this year!!! :flap:

Quite hypocritical of a fan coming from a fanbase that moaned and whined about how them nasty "Stealers" stole the Super Bowl after XL.

The name 'Stealers' is still used to this day on Seahawk message boards. Please don't pull that "unsportsmanlike" holier than thou BS on here.

First... When the league came out in discussion of the calls, they only discussed one call that was of any question, and that was the block below the knees on what was a tackle.

Every other call was legitimate. What was also most interesting, was a number of holding calls that were NOT called on the Seahawks Tackles and TE's. I will tell you this, there were a couple times I thought the cops were going to arrest a Seattle TE for a mugging.

And NO ONE actually takes what the announcers say seriously. They are paid to hear themselves talk.

My husband and I leave Seattle in just a few hours to fly to Pittsburgh for Sunday's game. We are looking forward to seeing Heinz field and a great game on Sunday. Not all or should I say very few Seahawk fans are classless. We will wear our blue and cheer on our team, but would never, ever disrespect the home crowd.
 to a good game without injuries

Good post and same back at ya. But I think you will see only a few Seahawk fans at Heinz. They didn't show up in Detroit, I highly doubt we see alot go further to Pittsburgh.

Has the NFL ever admitted to blowing a call or a game? Besides, with all that stuff going on with the NBA and Tim Donahee whos to day it hasn't been going on in football?

Actually.... Yes... a number of times. Funny thing. They did it a couple weeks before the SB on Troy Polamalu's interception that was ruled not an interception.

And on the second part of that post... That is just sheer dreamland.

Get a Hi-def tv. Get a copy of the SB. Watch the TD that was called back. The man touched, extended his arm against a defend...

never mind. Been argued a million times... not worth going into it again.

dont you remember vinnie testaverde and the jets vs. the seattle seahawks? the game that pretty much got instant replay re-instated into the nfl?

maybe im going to far back for you. how bout the 49'ers beatting the giants in 02? nfl admits it shoulda been pi on the ot.

those are just 2 huge playoff games (seattle vs. jets was the final game of the season but pretty much a playoff game). there have been many more.

I have to admit that I was a bit annoyed when I read your first post. But I really respect a guy who is capable of appropriately making amends. We're cool.

And thanks as always for having my back Tony.

Here's my quick philosophy on SB XL as a Seahawks fan. We've been down this road before, but I think as Seahawk fans it doesn't serve ourselves to debate XL. The Hasselbeck tackle call was cut and dry wrong. But beyond that most of the key calls landed in a shade of grey area that people could make reasonable arguments either way as to how they should have been called. You Steeler fans would probably have been pretty pissed off about the game had the shoes been on the other foot. Especially when your perceptions were being reinforced constantly by the announcers of the game and national media. That being said, it won't do us Hawk fans any good to argue about them. Better to let others do it. But they aren't going to change the outcome. And I think that had the Hawks been playing at the level they had been through most of the season, they would have won in spite of the calls by a large margain. But they didn't. You guys won. Congrats. Now I hope the Seahawks kick your collective asses today in your own house.

My favorite stat of the day? The 110 yard TD drive that started on our own 20. The refs threw not one, not two, but THREE phantom holding flags on that drive, yet we still ate up most of the quarter and scored.

Hmmm... you are right.

More calls went against us yesterday than did the Hawks in XL and we still won. It's just ashame Seattle can't deal with adversity 1/1000th the way Pittsburgh can. Good luck with the rest of the season though :)

I was just wondering where the Seatle fans are now, that were talking trash, and pissing on our helmets, where are they now?what are they doing? All of the peeing on the helmet was actually tears they would be shedding. They misconstrued thier dream.Very strong game all around, sent them to thier flights back home.Hopefully we won't have to deal with thier type until week 13.West coast is where they should stay.If thier team plays in our neck of the woods, then they should save the money, and watch the game on tv.Unless they can find the much eluded bigfoot, and train him as a pass rusher,i think thier trips to the east coast will be pretty much the same each and every time.Thats all i have to say.
