pretty funny to go back to the well again despite the fine about a half a year ago for calling winslow a homo.. winslows taking it in stride:

BEREA, Ohio -- Joey Porter may have changed jersey colors. His tone remains the same.

Miami's outspoken linebacker, who has waged a personal and sometimes profane battle against Browns tight end Kellen Winslow the past two years, renewed their feud earlier this week with more biting words.

"He's a receiver, really," Porter said. "He's not a tight end, because he's not going to block anybody. If you ask me who's going to win the Joey Porter-Kellen Winslow battle: Me."

Porter renews feud
Joey Porter has two victories, a fine and plenty of headlines to show for his feud with Kellen Winslow, which resumes this week.

"It has kind of been one-sided," Porter said Wednesday. "I've never lost to him. It's like me picking on my little brother." More ... On Thursday, Winslow shot back -- kindly.

"I think Joey Porter needs a hug," Winslow said, smiling. "He's so angry, man."

Last year while with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Porter exchanged insults, shoves and hard hits with Winslow. And Porter, who signed a five-year, $32 million free agent deal with the Dolphins in March, feels he got the better of his Cleveland counterpart.

"It really hasn't been a war," Porter said Wednesday. "It's been one-sided. I've never lost to him. It's like me picking on my little brother."

Aware of Porter's remarks, Winslow, who will see Porter on Sunday when the Browns host the Dolphins, counterpunched with some well-placed verbal jabs.

"I'm not into the individual-battle thing," he said. "It's a team thing. We're 2-3 and they're 0-5 and we're looking for a win. He doesn't have to worry about me. He should be worried about the team concept. They're 0-5 right now."

Winslow's comments were relayed Thursday to Porter.

"He is saying all the right things," Porter said. "Unlike me. I'm going to say how I feel.

"We are looking for our first win. The personal battle, he turned that down. We're going to cross paths sometime during the game. We will see each other."

Porter and Winslow first made acquaintances before last year's game in Cleveland when they jawed at each other during pregame warmups, a heated exchange that forced officials to step between them. It was a familiar tactic from Porter, who in 2004 had gotten into a pregame fight with Browns running back William Green, and was ejected before kickoff.

Although the Steelers rallied for 21 fourth-quarter points to win a year ago, Winslow flattened Porter with a vicious stiff-arm after catching a pass.

Three weeks later in Pittsburgh, Winslow attempted to shake Porter's hand before the game, a gesture Porter rejected. In the fourth quarter, Winslow drew the Steelers' ire with a late hit on linebacker James Farrior.

Following that game, Porter called Winslow a derogatory slur and was later fined $10,000 by the NFL.

Winslow expects Porter to fill his helmet with trash talk before this Sunday's game.

"I'm sure he will," he said. "The only reason I did that (offer the handshake) last year was to give our team some confidence and get them going a little bit. But again, I'm not worried about Joey.

"He's not even their best player."

Uh, oh.

A fiery player since college, Winslow, who has been playing with an injured shoulder, has done a better job of containing his emotions on the field this season. Browns coach Romeo Crennel said he isn't worried about the sight of Porter setting off Winslow.

"I don't think Kellen will get unhinged," Crennel said. "Kellen knows he has a job to do and he'll do his job to try and help this team."

Winslow still has moments when he appears on the verge of erupting. However, the 24-year-old, who missed nearly two full seasons with injuries, feels he's got himself better under control.

"You just learn from your mistakes," he said. "It's just maturing and knowing the game, knowing the business, how things work. I'm not really biting down on my tongue. I'm just learning from my mistakes and just growing up."

When Porter hit the free-agent market, there was a brief buzz about him signing with the Browns. It didn't happen, but Winslow briefly pondered the idea of playing alongside his nemesis.

"You know what?" Winslow said. "He would probably be a great teammate. But he's not on our team, so it doesn't really matter."

so will winslow offer porter a hug in pregame warm ups?

Your new team is 0-5, Joey. Just shut up and play.

This would be embarrassing...but Porter's no longer a Steeler.

The embarrassing decline of Peezy continues.

Some people just need to learn when to keep their mouth shut and play. Some other need to learn get along with and play well with other people. Porter needs to learn both.

If Porter would have stayed I wonder if Tomlin would have muzzled this nonsense?

The fact that Cameron cannot tell someone to zip it when the team is 0-5 indicates Miami and Atlanta currently are setting the pace for most dysfunctional locker rooms.

lets see. since porter became a dolphin he has punched a bungle, guaranteed a victory against the hated raiders, and called out a brown once again. im more than happy with it, if the dolphins are gonna pay porter to keep providing me with entertainment (its not like im tuning in too see their product on the field every sunday).

anyone think james farrior didnt smile when he saw porters comments about winslow? i bet all of his old teammates laughed. at his current pace of delivering the smack to ex-steeler foes, im curious about what words he may have for the bungles, ravens, and possibly the patriots.

the media is gonna have a field day with this when he plays in pittsburgh.

i dont think porter cares about either-

"He [winslow] is saying all the right things," Porter said. "Unlike me. I'm going to say how I feel.

"We are looking for our first win. The personal battle, he turned that down. We're going to cross paths sometime during the game. We will see each other."

. i have a strong feeling one of tomlins 1st conversation with colbert and rooney, in regards to porter, went a little something like this:

"get rid of him. we will win without him. we have no time to waste trying to put a muzzle on this nonsense."

ultimately though, the steelers were getting rid of a salary, not a problem. had joey stayed for $2 mil/year, i have no doubt that tomlin would succeed in channeling porters energy and focussing it more positively and having him buy into the "tomlin" way. ultimately, all players wanna be put in the best position to win and earn their money. now that porter is on the sinking ship, i think hes gonna test all the boundries cowher wouldnt even let him cross.

joey is the class clown who now has the substitute teacher. tomlin is no "substitute" and cameron is no don shula (or even bill cowher).

Joey is desperately attempting to keep some kind of media focus on himself. His skills have diminished, and his team is awful. Worst of all, that defense, once the only thing you could bank on from the Dolphins, is now running a close second to the worst in the NFL (Bengals get that honor).

:coffee: yes joey, whatever you say... your team is 0-5, you're acting like you were 5-0. I have seen joey pressuring the QB like 3 times this season, so far he's done nothing. dolphins 31st against the run :toofunny: where have you been during that joey, shut up and play, even if the team won't get far this season

im rather impressed that his hatred for the afc north is still alive and well.. especially towards a douche like winslow. he really doesnt like that guy.

i will watch the game when he comes to town on sunday and cheer for him. everyone in attendance will still view him as a steeler, as much as some of you dont want that to happen, and boo him relentlessly. so go dolphins and porter this weekend!

Hey, I wish the guy all the best unless he's playing against us. Although at this point in his career (counting last season), I think he's more bark than bite. I guess that doesn't make me Pittsburgh enough in some narrowminded moron's mind even though I was born here and have lived here my whole life while never missing a home game in person since age four.

Who knew Joey Porter's grandmother was a member of Steelers Fever? Learn something new everyday I guess.

I think Joey Porter is always going to wish he was back with the Steelers. Its probably going to be a Rick Morantis/Ghostbusters thing.

Whatever. I like Porter. They didn't want him around anymore. Oh well. That's the game. There are certainly guys on this team that I would be very sad to see go, but that's the nature of the beast. We can't have 53 Jerome Bettises...

And that is this seasons' $24 million question. Really. Not only not Tomlin's baggage but not his schtick either.

Let's see. Harrison for $8 million/4 years or Joey for $32 million/5 years?

Let's think about it for nanosecond.

Here's the deal.

Porter had good years with us. His skills started diminishing last year. It was thought, his production in the future would not support his salary. Obviously the Rooney's had seen enough, and with the fist fight in the off-season and Porter mouthing, without backing it up...

I gotta say I am glad he is gone.

BTW... Loyalty is taught in more then one place... and mine remains with the team, not a player.

we shoulda atleast traded porter for the dolphins cheerleaders. not for cheering...but for the most scantilly clad internet layouts or something :jerkit:
