Just wondering who here has played football, when and what position.I played for just one season in an amateur league before injuries and career changes forced me to stop. I was back up RB and totalled 400 yds and 4 TDS :tt02:

I played OL in pee-wee leagues, and LB in high school. Wasn't good enough to play past high school, though. A lot of fun it was.

I played for a year in high school...

I played end, guard and tackle.

That meant I sat at the end of the bench, gaurding the water bottle, and tackled anyone that came near it.

LOL. :sofunny: I played "pick up & slaughter" (70's) in my neighborhood. Pick up the ball, run like hell, and get slaughtered when everyone piled on .

I played Middle Linebacker and Fullback in high school (WPIAL AAAA)

Our team sucked though but on my JV team we went undefeated and unscored upon for the whole season

I played Inside Linebacker in High School. On Goal-line D I was a nose tackle. We used to try and lunge at the QB and hit him before he could drop back. Loved the action so much that I was always on Special Teams for Kick-off coverage. I made sure that my Coach placed me on those ST's so I could hit someone.

After High School, I took up Bodybuilding because I was hooked on lifting heavy. Good times!

Where abouts in Oz did you get to play? What other types of football did / have you played?

Would have loved to played but no chance out here in the bush. Would have loved to have played middle linebacker or strong safety if given the chance.

I know you guys dont classify our games as football but here goes.

Played soccer, aussie rules and rugby league as a kid throughout school.

Played rugby union for five years at university mainly as a fullback. ( Probably best translates to free safety who played clean up on defence and punt returner on offense with the extra responsibility of kicking the ball when needed)

Then played four years of Aussie Rules football after that. Bit like playing on special teams all the time with guys flying around everywhere all the time.

We are lucky that every town has an organised football team in at least one football code.

Some guys play into their 40's. We know have over 40's and 50's golden oldies competitions in all football codes. We are spoilt with opportunities to keep playing football whatever our age or talent levels. Maybe thats why we are all old and broken down.

Hi Aussie Steeler
I gotta confess i am a POM:yikes: and emigrated from the UK in 2005.Been in OZ for 2 years now and me ,wife and kids love it here and are pleased to call Australia our home now.Aussie are great folks and the beach, barby, beer lifestyle is really suiting me even after a long day at work.
Played american football in the uk many moons ago in amateur leagues set up in the Midlands and really enjoyed it until injuries caught up with me.
Now i concentrate all my passion on the Steelers and the tv gets a lot of hollering and cheering from me.

Being a steeler fan cancels out the fact you were once a POM. I'll still credit you as an Aussie.

We only have problems with the POMS who support other teams and troll around.

I'm keen to find out amongst our fellow posters who were the hardhitting linebackers back in their glory days .

I played one year, center. I flat out wasn't mean enough, and felt lost on the field. I did continue with basketball and baseball. Still, they were just games to me. I didn't understand the concept of competition (competition is different from winning and losing). I was too naive.

Our HS team went on to be WPIAL runners-up when I was a senior (after I left).

my freshman year i lead the JV team to the district championship as the quarterback. but since i was 5-9 and 215 they saw me more as a fullback on varsity. so i spent the next three years at fullback. i ran for 2300 yards in three years on varsity. at quarterback i ran for 5 TD and had 4 passing

All State OLB (but played ILB and DE at different times)....I Still have an invitation somewhere from Boston College to try out for their team...also got several offers from smaller midwest schools ...but in the second to last game of the season I tore an ACL and cartlidge in my right knee and in the 80's that injury meant you were DONE!!
...regrets.

I'm playing my 7th season. I was a Tackle and Defensive End in youth leagues, Played Guard/Nose Tackle and Long Snapper in 6th&7th. Played Center and Nose Tackle Ever Since. I'm in my sophomore season.

Fortunately my luck has changed because until this year my records were
4th:2-7
5th:1-4
6th:1-7
7th:1-7
8th:1-7
9th:1-7
10th:Currently 7-1 and playoff bound.

That makes my carrier record 14-40 but bound to go over .500 by my sr. year.

damn.. i don't even remember my record when i played lil league... i am a sr this yr in HS and i played mlb all the way from when i started at 4th grade but as soon as i got to HS they moved me to olb.. it's all fun an shit... the only season i remember from lil league was when we went undefeated and won the championship.. we were the baldwin breakers.. moved to kansas city, mo.9th went undefeated..
10th went 8-2 went to semi-finals and lost to rey-pec who won state
11th started off 0-5 b/c 4 of 5 ol were soph. but finished 4-6 and made play-offs and went to semi-finals again and lost to rey-pec again (this was rey-pec's 3rd straight state champ win)
12th we are 6-2 lost to 2 of best teams in city and finally beat rey-pec and i think we are destined to go to state(we have an insane depth chart of talented players)
but the funny things about the 1oth, and 11th yrs i played against Josh Freeman(k-state), (Coffman brother's(MU) who went to rey-pec)and (derrick washington(MU)who played for rey-pec(all the offense for the 3 yrs he started)) and a couple other starts who might be on the MU roster.. and this yr rey-pec is 2-6 lol :)

Played 4 yrs in high school, guard/nose tackle. We went to the state championships (div.3 ) won 2 out of 3. No thanks to me,well, I like to think I made the starters better by bustin my hump in practice. We had some great teams 9-1 freshman year(lost the first game)then didn't lose again till my senior year.We played the championship games in Foxboro, when the Pats and their fans weren't so ignorant and arrogant and they couldn't give tickets away for their games. Got to practice during the week, and met Steve Grogan, Mosi Tatupu, and most of the team in their locker room and weight room. Back then I was still a Steeler fan ,but I didn't have the seething hatred i have for that team and their ignorant fans now.Over all it was a great experience and I took with me some very fond memories and valuable lessons learned. The only thing I care not to remember ; August training camp double sessions, and breaking in the new/re-conditioned helmets!! My forehead still hurts thinking about those @#%$& things! Sorry so long- winded, great post.
