I talked to my mother on the phone today and she had mentioned that the family wanted to know what I wanted for X-Mas.

I told her that if the whole family wanted to chip in I really only wanted an X-Box 360, since my PS2 is on its last leg.

She then asked if I wanted a PS3 instead, I didn't know she knew one even existed :sofunny:, so now I'm wondering. If they want to kick in the extra cash for the 3, do I want that?

I've played the 360 a lot, since my best friend/next door neighbor has one, but I haven't really played the 3 a ton, once or twice. I really enjoy the 360 and can WAIT for Fable 2, I absolutely loved the first.

I have heard that everyone who has had to decide has said that most research showed the 360 is preferred.

Does the PS3 play PS2 games? Because I have a ton of them. I know a lot of you guys have both. What are your personal experiences?

I belive the PS3 plays PS2 games. I want one because online will be free and that will make the PS3 pay for itself within a few months since xbox charges for online play.

Yeah the PS3 is backwards compatable with the PS2 and Playstation but you have to buy an adaptor to put your memory card onto the PS3 haddrive.

That’s true but it (PSN) runs on limited servers, it's REALLY laggy about 25% of the time and has advertisements EVERYWHERE... That is why it's free.

Crushzilla: I have a 360, Wii and originally planned to buy a PS3 as well. The best thing I can tell you about the PS3 is that it is a blu-ray player. If you’re into that then its cool, but the software lineup for the system is mediocre as of now.

A lot of former Sony exclusives such as the Resident Evil, Final Fantasy and Assassins Creed series’ (Maybe Metal Gear) have come the 360 now… A long with Halo and Gears of War with some smaller titles the 360’s library just destroys that of the PS3.

Like I said above, if you’re into online sure PSN is free… But it lags, has close to 75% less players on it than Xbox live and has ads… Xbox Live costs about $45 a year, only goes down for a day about one time a year when Microsoft updates it’s servers and has countless more features than its Sony counterpart.

Here is what I would suggest you do: Ask those buying you the gift if instead of putting that extra cash into a PS3, they would get you a 360 with an Xbox Live starter kit (about 50 bucks) and maybe a game if you could push it that far :D… Unless you’re a real big Sony fan or want a blu-ray player badly, the 360 gives you MUCH more for your money.

NOPE. I experience hardly any lag and what advertisements are you talking about???

Xbox 360 destroys PS3....Its been out for a year longer. Gears was the first game to really establish the 360 and that was like a year after launch. Give PS3 a chance to get games out. Sony has some pretty good games on the way. I played the Uncharted demo and it is breath taking and Rachet and Clank is a awesome game. Don't forget about Haze and MGS comming out soon.

Play the PS3 and see how you like it. Don't listen to Fanboys, pick the one you'll like better. I love my PS3 and I think 360 is a good system. PS3 is a good system and it is on the rise.

Xbox 360 is the better system right now, but give it a little while and you'll wish you had a PS3.

Choosing microsoft over sony? Really? C'mon man.

The days of exclusive game deals are over. You can expect to see just about every PS title on XBox now, but maybe not the other way around. It's funny to hear people say naive things about Sony vs. Microsoft, though.
