The way we hear it, the Steelers have had preliminary discussions about perhaps replacing ORG Kendall Simmons with rookie Chris Kemoeatu, but nothing is imminent.

I can't give you the link becuz it's on ESPN insider. But if you have it here's the link: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/news/storyid=2186400&num=3&univLogin02=stateChanged

This is all that it states it doen't say much more. But from the state of the Steelers offensive run production it's a concern. Replacing a OLineman isn't that drastic as long as he ahs a good core of palyers around him.

I hope Chris doesn't have the same bird flipping skills like his brother Ma'ake Kemoeatu does in Baltimore.

This doesn't make any sense. We are currently ranked 7th in rushing offense, and 4 of the teams ranked above us have played one more game than we have.

Everyone's taking this as a bad thing, but if Kemo's been doing better than Simmons in practice, why not? put him in the 3rd and 4th quarter, or even start him in a game, and if he buckles, put Simmons back in, but why not give the kid the chance to step up? I figure the sooner he gets reps in, the sooner he can become a Pro Bowler :P I think I predicted this in a thread during preseason right after the Dolphins game (http://forums.steelersfever.com/showthread.php?p=16571&highlight=kemoeatu#post16571) and I also talked about Okobi replacing Hartings, which I think was shown in the Pats game against Seymour...

I just like the idea of a 6th rounder starting and doing well :P

P.S. If Chris ends up starting at OG, that means he could be playing head to head against his brother twice a year for as long as they both stay with their teams and start... wouldn't that be some sibling rivalry?

Simmons is playing really bad... it looks like he is on rollerskates. They may as well line him up at fullback since he is gonna end up there anyways. He has been getting pushed back all year, including preseason.

I agree with giving Chris a shot. He is a little raw, but at least he will knock someone on their butt. Kendall has just not been the same... I hope this happens.

I think it was Dulac that started floating this idea. Simmons hasnt played to good. According to Dulac he was targeted by NE and they beat him a lot. Kemoeatu is much stronger. If Simmons struggles Monday night against the Jaguars I wouldnt be surprized if he gets some playing time.

I'm sorry, I must be watching a different Pittsburgh Steelers team than just about everyone else here. I do remember some talk about Simmons being a little rusty for the first couple games, but there is no way in Hell he's about to be replaced...you don't replace seasoned vets with rookies on the O-line. It just doesn't happen...this is just sports talk fodder.

Just another rumor, that probably won't amount to anything........

Yes he has been picked on but O-line is about knowing the same five guys. Better the devil you know than don't.

IMO, the O-line is about blocking people, and Simmons is not doing that.

Simmons and Starks is still a work in progress, I think it is a little premature to give up on either of them. They need to get better together to enable us to be all on the same page. Give Simmons a little more time. And activate Kemo if they wanna see more from him. As you can't get better from the bench.....
