Rightnow, Willie is real good. He's slowed down since hes bulked up, but hes still very fast...and has matured ALOT since he started. I just hope he doesn't get this obsession to put on size (ex david boston) and lose his #1 weapon, speed.

I'll try and post videos comparing his speed now and before

The extra bulk came in handy as he picked up a blitzing Ray Lewis and allowed Ben extra time to throw a TD to Holmes.

very true, but you don't need bulk for that. strength training can take care of helping with the blocking without adding size, and without sacrificing speed. it was a sick block though

I'm not so sure about that comparison, the first one he was wide open just running, the 2nd he had to dodge a few people. I think he may have lot a little but not much and the extra bulk has helped

I don't have a prob w/ the extra muscle...he's a fast guy....he can also be a "cut" HB too....Willie will need all the extra muscle he can put on playing for the STEELERS....We have been a 50/50 team so far......we need Willie to carry alot!...I know he is up for it..

i can't really tell...but he seemed to have been extremely fast before. anyway he's performing well so it doesn't matter

I think he may have lost a little speed but probably needed to bulk up a wee bit if he wanted take the consistent pounding a starting RB takes in the NFL.
Hopefully a bit of a trade off, loosing a bit of speed but able to avoid injuries a bit better and remain on the field.

I'll take the small loss on speed to gain some muscle.

The extra muscle allows him to bounce off of arm tackles better, takes hits better, and will add a power demension to his game. I'm not talking "Jerome Bettis drag 4 defenders for 30 yards" power, but he'll be able to lower his shoulder and hit a DB/LB with more force and have a more powerful stiff arm. You can tell he's got more power to his game when he blocked Gay Ray on Monday night. Just the other year, he would have been trampled and Ben would have been walloped.

willie parker could use a little bit more strength as long as it does not have a huge impact on his agility or speed.

I don't see where he's lost a step. It's a half-step at most, and the punishment he inflicts on linebackers with the extra mass is worth it, IMHO. When he gets past the line, he still has blistering speed. Like I tell everyone..... he'll get stuffed for 10 - 15 2 yard gains, then *POW*.... he's either gone or has a large gain.

His speed still wears down defenses in the first half, and that primes them for the power running of Najeh.

Willie is like a physical specimen i still say he can run a sub 4.4 and to me that is faster than 70% of the other starting RBs in the league

I dont think it will effect him as much. He's still faster than most people when hes not at full speed.

im not really sure that there even is a faster running back in the nfl than parker. 70% is way too generous.

I have to agree with this if he is going to stay in and block for ben he need to bulk up a little bit.I don't think it has changed his speed much.

Couldn't have said it any better, Roeth. Willie has lost maybe just a touch on his speed, but he is so much stronger now. No longer does he hit the ground from the slightest bit of contact or an arm tackle - he runs through that stuff now.

I think the strength is exactly what Parker need now with a blast of speed and strength it makes him a larger target and a much faster and tougher target to have to drag down!
