View Full Version : Powderpuff Football

Last night my friend asked me if I would be his Defensive Coordinator for the Junior classes Powderpuff Football team here on campus. I accepted, but then realized that we would only have one practice before our first game.

So I obviously opted for the Tampa 2 Zone, because its quick to learn and I have a feeling it will be easier to emphasize enforcing an area rather than have all types of confusion about who is covering who.

Also, I expect a lot of running so I will be able to tell the linebackers to watch this hole or that.

I realize its all for fun, but I can't have my girls running around out there like the Bengals!

Any advice?

Don't make the mistake I made the first practice I had at Wilmington College with the womens soccer team and told them they ram like a bunch of girls. They didn't like that one bit. I heard about it all season, I think a couple had PMS too. They were ready to take my head off.
Weel we got through the year and I made them a Varsity team so I got that accomplished. Never did get them to run like men thoug, they still ran like girls, can't figure out why.

I remember my senior year in HS, the powder puff HC called an all out blitz and back then, the front line could move the immovable force. Well, it was a false start on the offense but the down LB jumped over the OL and clotheslined the QB. It was a great play but I had to throw a flag for unnecessary roughness...

but I digress, as far as advice - I'd go with the pain only hurts if you're receiving it! And it feels so much better when you're giving it!!
