I assume we will be hearing that argument

Yep.

And I for one will be trumpeting it.

I was Sold on field turf for a few... but you know... When the players want the real stuff.. .and then you see this... yep. I want the real stuff.

WHO CARES WHAT OTHER PLAYERS SAY ABOUT IT. BUTCH UP.

Costly win - Willie's out for the season, and Ben's even more nicked up.

Anybody get the impression that the announcers are not very Steeler friendly. After the ike INT/TD Gumble said " looks like the steelers have enough in the bag to win this game"

It is not a knee and it is not losing Harris & Bleier in 1976 - it is another nail in the coffin of this season but it does not end Willie's career or deprive the Steelers of a likely SB berthl

"Likely SB berth?" Surely that is said tongue-in-cheek. This defense won't make it past the first playoff game.

Of course Parker said going into the Jets and New England games he was looking forward to running on a fast track rather than at Heinz

Nope - the loss of Harris and Bleier for the '76 AFCCG cost the Steelers a 3rd straight SB appearance at the time. This team is too banged up to make any real noise in the playoffs, but once they're there, who knows?

My point was this is not 1976 - I feel bad for Willie but this team was not going deep in the playoffs regardless of whether Willie stayed healthy

Ok so I'm watching the highlights after watching the nfl.com version of football. And I've got a few things to say...

1 - I will no longer be on this website on game day. Every game I've been online for this season the Steelers have lost (cards, broncos, jets, patria-cheats, and jaguars).

2 - It seems that the defense was a little like swiss cheese but held it together.

3 - Offensively we had some better play calling but there's still room for improvement next week against the ratbirds.

GREAT GAME BOYS!!!

NOW DO AGAIN NEXT WEEK AND PUT THE RATBIRDS TO BED ALONG WITH THE AFC NORTH TITLE!!!!

:wink02:

I assume you are just joshing:smile:

It is an absolute - the Steelers are the team everyone now presumably wants in the playoffs if they make it that far

This is not losing Bettis to a broken leg in 1997, 2001 or 2005 or Willie P. in 2005 - it was not a SB team before tonight

In a way it makes everything after tonight gravy - any future losses can be tied to losing Willie P.

The Duke

Now it's time for the browns to get back to their old ways and lose this week so our starters can rest against the rats

I'm assuming it's safe to come in here now? No doom and gloom predictions? No "fire Arians" posts? No "Mike Tomlin isn't impressive and shouldn't be coach if this is what we're to expect from him" posts? No blatant fair-weather fandom?
