Anyone besides me notice that Preseason NFL Analysts for Sports Illustrated Magazine predicted some pretty smart decisions (at the time)

Check out some of these:

AFC North:

Ravens 12-4
Bengals 10-6 (WC)
Steelers-6-10
Browns 3-13

Playoffs

Ravens over Colts in Divisonal Playoffs
Patriots over Chargers in Divisional Playoffs
Patriots over Ravens in AFCCG

Super Bowl

Saints over Patriots

NOW THIS IS HOW IT ACTUALLY IS RIGHT NOW (12/23)

AFC North

Steelers- 10-5 (AFC North Champs)
Browns 9-6
Bengals 6-9
Ravens 4- 11

Well, they are only predictions. And yeah they were way off.

Can't say that I blame them. IMO, at the time those picks did make sense. Personally, I was worried about the Ravens at the beginning of the season.

I predict that every year someone will be trying to take the AFC north title away from the Steelers...every year. Its ours to lose.

They're proffessionals with the NFC South thinking the last place team stays put.

Sporting News had Bengals at 10-6, Ravens at 9-7, Steelers at 7-9, and Browns at 4-12. I knew we'd do better than that though.

I can understand thinking that we would be 8-8... or even 7-9. However, 6-10 is a little silly. After all, we were one game from making the playoffs last year.

If these guys could pick the exact order in which teams would end up they would not be working for SI. They would be multi-millionaires working for the mob. That's why they are simple predictions. I was not expecting them to be perfect when I read them back in August.

Do these predictions really come as a surprise? They are no different than many of the predictions I've read from Steeler fans on Steeler MBs.

The difference is.. they are getting paid to be "Experts" in all things football. So how sad is it that they can't pick any better then the non-experts on a BB.

I have not seen too many others who are predicting any better. The league is unpredictable. These guys are not the sports versions of Miss Cleo (bad example). That's normally why anybody with a brain would not take the picks seriously. They can't be perfect when it comes to picking something like this. I would love to meet the guy who can pick the correct teams down to the Super Bowl winner.

But hey, if that's what floats some people's boat's, more power to them. Reminds me of the people who complain about Skip Bayliss but yet they tune in to hear what he has to say everyday. FWIW, I'm by no means a Bayliss fan and that's why I do NOT listen to him.

Ehhh, let them say what they want...it only fuels the Steeler Fire. Forcast here today was for rain and not a drop fell...go figure.

Hey I can't B & M about their early predictions. I had the Rats winning the AFCN and the Steelers getting in as a WC. I'm damned glad I was wrong.

i knew that last year was a fluke, and they have too much talent to go 8-8 again this season, but the browns surprised me

the SI experts probably predicted the steelers would do well after the SB season. i guess they were stupid.

the predictions this past season looked logical to me. having a new HC, new OC, other new coaches, coming off a bad year and an O-line that is getting weaker doesn't always equate to a playoff season.
